Our waste and recycling service plays a crucial role in keeping the district clean and safe. We are seeking reliable, professional HGV Driver/Loaders to join our Direct Services team.
In this role, you’ll take responsibility for your own round, operating a specialist refuse collection vehicle and working closely with a small crew to deliver a high-quality service our residents depend on every day.
Everything you need to know:
You will be responsible for the safe operation of a refuse collection vehicle (rigid up to 26 tonnes with rear steer) and the collection of household waste and recycling across a wide range of locations. As well as driving, you’ll carry out daily vehicle checks, coordinate collection loaders, record service information using digital in-cab systems, and interact professionally with members of the public.
You’ll be trusted to make on-the-spot decisions to maintain safety, service quality and efficiency in a dynamic, public-facing environment.
The role includes working Good Friday and eight Saturdays per year following bank holidays, to support service recovery.
What you will be doing:
<ul>
<li>Safely driving and operating a specialist refuse collection HGV across a wide range of environments, including residential streets, town centres and rural roads.</li>
<li>Carrying out daily and ad-hoc vehicle safety checks and reporting defects promptly.</li>
<li>Completing all scheduled household waste and recycling collections to a high standard of service quality and presentation.</li>
<li>Engaging professionally with residents, responding to queries and managing challenging situations calmly and respectfully.</li>
<li>Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures, safe systems of work, road traffic requirements, environmental standards and Council policies.</li>
<li>Completing statutory and operational records, including defect reports, tachograph records and route documentation.</li>
</ul>
What you will bring to the role:
<ul>
<li>LGV (Class C) driving licence</li>
<li>Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card</li>
<li>A safe and responsible driving record</li>
<li>Willingness to work in an operational waste and recycling environment, handling household waste safely and professionally</li>
<li>Able to undertake physically demanding outdoor work, including manual handling, repeated access in and out of vehicles, and working in all weather conditions.</li>
<li>A dependable and professional attitude</li>

Experience in waste collection or similar operational roles is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided

An exciting and challenging opportunity has been created to join a Grounds Maintenance team who maintain Rights of Way within Wirral. We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to help provide an excellent service for local people.

The successful candidate will help implement the Wirral Parks Standard which will involve working with Rights of Way officer, staff, Friends Groups, service users and external organisation.
About the Candidate:
The successful candidate will join the Grounds Maintenance team based at Cleveland Street Depot which is responsible for the maintenance of all Highway verges &amp; Rights of Way some open spaces within Parks &amp; Countryside. The Grounds Maintenance team work to provide a comprehensive grounds maintenance service to these areas.
You will have the following essential Knowledge &amp; Skills:
Health &amp; Safety awareness.
Full/Provisional Driving Licence.
As well as being able to carry out a full range of maintenance duties it will be desirable if you were skilled in at least one of the following:
Compact Ride-On Mowing Machines.
Experience in use of industrial horticultural machinery, strimmer, backpack blower, and hedge cutter.
Possession of the following Desirable Criteria will be advantageous. Towing of trailers and NVQ 2 in Amenity Horticulture
Temporary Contract and hours are as follows:
31 weeks @ 36 hrs to commence on 30th March 2026 to 30th October 2026.

The role will cover Greenwich, Bexley and surrounding areasIt is essential to have a manual driving license to carry out this role and they must have hand tools (larger tools and specialist equipment will be arranged if needed).Your impact in the role:Our Multi trade/Carpenters are expected to carry out a range of tasks inclusive of internal and external door fitting, Splice repairs, General Locksmith, bathroom Sub Floors, Bath panels and framework kitchen repairs/refits and Other general Maintenance repairs. Ideally you will also be able to carry out internal/external window repairs including single and double glazing, repairs to doors, lock refits and repairs.It is important to have effective communication skills, have experience of working in a building and/or housing maintenance environment including a knowledge of a varied housing stock.Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to L&amp;Q and as a first line of contact to our residents. We expect our operatives to have outstanding customer service and ability to deliver a right first-time service. Limiting follow ons and increasing satisfaction.Core hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm in general. There is the opportunity to earn more from call outs and out of hours service.
