West Northamptonshire Council is looking for an exceptional Data Engineering and DBA Manager to continue the modernisation of our entire data infrastructure. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape how data is managed, shared and secured across the council. You'll be at the forefront of our digital transformation – continuing to move us from legacy on-premise systems into a cloud-first (Microsoft Fabric), insight-driven future. Reporting to the Head of IT Operations and working within our innovative Digital, Technology &amp; Innovation team, you’ll initially lead a skilled team of four senior technical experts, with plans to grow the function as we strengthen our data capability.<h2>Additional information</h2>We’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of technology, strategy and delivery - someone who sees data not just as numbers, but as the fuel that drives better decisions and better services. You’ll bring a wealth of experience in data engineering, database administration and cloud technologies, along with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement. As a Desktop Support Engineer, you’ll be a key part of our frontline IT support team, ensuring that staff across the council have the tools and assistance they need to work efficiently and effectively. Your work will directly support vital public services and make a real difference in people’s lives.Providing 2nd line support to users across a wide range of devices and applicationsTroubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issuesSupporting staff in person, remotely, and via our service desk platformTravelling between council sites and supporting staff across our partner organisations and locationsPreparing and deploying new laptops and equipmentWorking with the wider DTI team to deliver a consistent, high-quality IT serviceSupporting our ongoing digital transformation projects and rollout of new technologiesAbout you We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to get stuck in.<ul>
<li>You’re great with people — friendly, patient, and able to explain IT clearly</li>
<li>You’re hands-on with desktop/laptop builds, troubleshooting, and support</li>
<li>You have experience working in an IT support environment (preferably public sector or large organisation but not essential)</li>
<li>You’re keen to learn, grow and be part of something exciting</li>
<li>Relevant IT qualifications (or equivalent experience) would be an advantage</li>
