<li>Expert knowledge and understanding of the law and procedure relating to the functions of a local authority, including all aspects of contracts and procurement law. In particular in relation to the Procurement Act 2023</li>
<li>Experience of construction contracts, particularly JCT and NEC forms, covering design responsibility, payment structures, delay damages, and defects liability</li>
<li>Grant agreements with external bodies such as the NHS or other councils.</li>
<li>Ability to negotiate and draft complex legal agreements and deliver expert legal advice orally and in writing in relation to these.</li>
<li>Ability to identify and communicate complex or key legal issues, clearly and effectively, both in writing and orally</li>
<li>A persuasive and effective influencer, with emotional intelligence, who can foster and build partnerships and relationships, work collaboratively within and across departmental boundaries, and achieve corporate and departmental objectives through and in partnership with others</li>

Hertsmere Borough Council is looking for a Legal Assistant to provide an efficient, high quality and comprehensive clerical and administrative support to their small and supportive Legal team.&nbsp; The post holder will also manage the web content for Legal Services.
Essential requirements for the role include education to A-Level standard, with good Maths and English GCSEs.&nbsp; The successful recruit will also have experience of complex administrative work in a busy office environment, and handling confidential information.&nbsp; Excellent customer service and communication skills will be important in this post, as will legal research and analysis, presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
The post is offered on a part time, permanent basis (20 hours per week).

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Legal Services Section, providing a joint legal service to Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council for an experienced, skilled and dynamic Litigation Lawyer. The Litigation and Regulatory Team deals with a wide variety of areas including housing, employment, criminal and civil litigation, planning and licensing. The postholder will assist the team in dealing with general litigation matters, researching and analysing legislation, advising on its interpretation and providing innovative, proactive and pragmatic advice to Officers and Members of both Councils.
We are looking for a positive, driven and innovative professional with excellent analytical and research skills, who is a good team player, self-motivated and has the ability to give clear, accurate and practical legal advice.
