Both posts require the successful candidate to have a thorough up to date knowledge of housing and local government law.&nbsp; You will be experienced in representation in court proceedings and instructing counsel and have a good working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules. Enfield Council has embarked on an ambitious programme of regeneration and housing development over the past few years which is continuing and delivering great homes and infrastructure for our residents. We need to recruit an experienced lawyer to act as our Lead Regeneration and Property Lawyer to drive forward this area of work in Legal Services. The successful candidate will play a lead role in facilitating the delivery of our regeneration plans by working with colleagues across the Council. The postholder will carry a varied and complex caseload, including development agreements, commercial and residential property transactions, planning and highways issues, compulsory purchase matters, governance and ancillary issues arising from larger projects. 
This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented and ambitious professional to join a friendly, committed and highly regarded in-house legal team to help deliver transformational and exciting projects, as well as making a real contribution to the quality of life and sustainability of the borough. 
We are looking for individuals who are accustomed to working at pace in a busy team. Prior local government experience is desirable, not essential, but you will need to have a keen interest in and enthusiasm for local government, as is the desire to work as part of larger project team. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and drafting skills and the ability to provide clear and concise legal advice to a variety of audiences.

Sefton Council’s Corporate Legal Services is comprised of four legal teams with administrative support.&nbsp; The Litigation and Regulatory &nbsp;Team provide legal services in &nbsp;relation to all Regulatory and Governance , Civil and Criminal Litigation and Employment Law .
You hold a legal qualification such as CILEX or law degree and / or experience of working in a legal practice and have demonstrable experience of the law relating to governance, regulatory matters, civil and criminal litigation including in particular Housing Licensing and the First Tier Property tribunals.
You will be responsible for a varied caseload which includes drafting statutory notices, orders and other legal documentation, and preparing bundles and cases for the single justice procedure at the Magistrates court .
You will be required to conduct advocacy in civil and criminal courts in relation to obtaining warrants , initial hearings and directions hearings and other orders in relation to Highways and the Criminal Justice Public order Act 1994.
You will have experience of working as part of a team, to assist others with advice to client departments , to achieve team objectives and adhere to court imposed timetables.
Preferably you will have experience of working in local government.
