Advert Text

Would you like to develop and apply your specialist speech and language therapy skills with secondary mainstream school pupils? If so, this is an excellent opportunity to take on a varied and complex caseload of SLCN, working autonomously across a number of secondary schools in Merton.

If you have specialist knowledge of the range of speech, language and communication needs pupils can experience in secondary school, are confident managing your own caseload, and enjoy collaborative and consultative working, then you are the person we are looking for.

The Merton Speech & Language Therapy Service is part of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Integrated Service (SENDIS) in Merton. This multidisciplinary, much respected and Borough Excellence Award winning team delivers statutory work, EHCP assessment and a unique buy-back service providing therapy, training, support and advice across Merton schools. You will require specialist knowledge of, and experience in applying, good practice models for working with children and young people with speech, language and communication needs, including group and individual interventions as well as whole school approaches. The post holder will be expected to work autonomously, manage a defined caseload, and contribute to the supervision and development of newly qualified therapists, assistants and students. You will work directly with pupils, parents, teachers, school staff, managers and other agencies, as well as alongside the teachers and therapists within SENDIS.

What we offer:

- Clinical supervision by Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

- Peer support groups and supervision

- Varied learning opportunities within the borough to support you in your career development

- Mileage or public transport costs between schools

- Training and professional fees (in line with CPD)

- Laptop and telephone

- Access to reward and discount scheme

- Comprehensive induction and support programme

- Cycle to work scheme
