Churchfield and Cherington provide supported housing for people facing addiction and homelessness. Churchfield accommodates 12 residents and offers 24/7 temporary support for those in active addiction, while Cherington accommodates 5 residents helps abstinent residents rebuild their lives and rejoin the community. The service is across 4 floors, so applicants must be able to use stairs for welfare and room checks. Join our Empty Homes Team at L&amp;Q:
You will report to the Empty Homes Manager in the Empty Homes Team, being part of the Empty Homes Team means making a real difference every day. You’ll help bring unused homes back into service, improve neighbourhoods, and support families in urgent need of housing. Ensuring our properties are safe, secure and ready for turnaround without delay and carrying out H&amp;S checks- legionella flushing and reporting issues promptly, you will help to reduce void times and improve standards.
Your responsive attention to detail and support contribute directly to speeding up the re let process- bringing homes back into use efficiently- helping the team hit key performance targets.

This includes a good working knowledge of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, The Traffic Signs and General Directions 2016, The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, Highways Act 1980 amongst many others. The post holder will need a good knowledge of Emergency Planning and Business Continuity. Working with internal and external works promoters, partners and stakeholders, you will lead on the making and issue of Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders for works, give approvals on traffic management plans, (including portable signals), related to National Permit Scheme, advise on events, and participate in the planning process giving consents approvals for third party developers Demolition and Construction Logistics Plans, and or major construction projects, i.e. Meridian Steps, Hallsville Quarter, Custom House Redevelopment etc. This will involve problem solving activities, and multi promoter and partner discussions. On occasion there will be a need to assert the rights of the Council and from time to time you will be involved in the preparation of legal papers and attend court. The role involves working directly with partner organisations, key stakeholders and other council officers including those from Public Realm, Environment, Planning, Licensing, Highways, Transportation, Parking, and Regeneration.&nbsp; The work covers office hours, and is hybrid working requiring attendance in the office of up to 3 days a week, but can also require attendance at evening meetings, or at events at the weekend; it also contributes to the council’s emergency planning response, and flexibility is required to be on call when required. We are looking for a candidate with demonstrable experience working in a busy Highways and Sustainable Transport, Network Management environment, with excellent communication skills and knowledge across a range of work environments including emergency planning, business continuity and events.&nbsp; You will be a highly experienced manager with a background in highway law and practice, road safety, Street Works and Road Works, the National Permit Scheme, Event Planning, Business Continuity, the making of Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders, and other licences, and be committed to delivering outstanding service and outcomes.&nbsp; You will be an excellent leader, have sound judgement, exceptional skills in managing people and working with partners, and have significant experience in managing a team, delivering service improvements and in using resources efficiently and effectively.&nbsp; Your communication skills must be highly developed as public speaking, engagement with other agencies and submission of regular reports are key to the role.
