 As a key member of our Building Control Team, you’ll carry out inspections on a variety of building projects - ranging from domestic extensions to major commercial developments - to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation. You will:

We are looking for someone with substantial experience in Building Control, gained through working across a diverse range of projects including residential, commercial, and complex developments. We can offer Inspectors the opportunity to work on HRB’s and work towards registration at Level 3 &amp; 4. As a Building Control Inspector you will have a thorough understanding of the Building Regulations and associated legislation, with demonstrated competence at Level 2.
At this level, you will also be expected to support the development of junior staff by providing supervision, mentoring, and technical guidance, and may be called upon to represent the team in meetings with developers, contractors, and other stakeholders. Reading offers the opportunity for Inspectors to be able to work towards Registration Level 3 for RBIs, with several large-scale developments underway, including projects where we are supporting the Building Safety Regulator (BSR).

 This is a varied role that will enable you to utilise problem solving skills to investigate and take action to deal with area based anti-social behaviour and unauthorised encampments, supporting local communities experiencing these types of issues and ensuring appropriate measures are put in place to stop these issues from reoccurring. You will have the opportunity to work with a range of services and agencies and support the wider objectives of the Community Partnerships Service to reduce area based anti-social behaviour and unauthorised encampments and support our communities to feel safer and inclusive.
Main Duties and responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Provide a victim-centred approach to tackling area based anti-social behaviour, ensuring timely action is taken and prevention, intervention and enforcement measures are appropriated used to secure a positive outcome, following required case management processes.</li>
<li>Work in collaboration with key partner agencies to problem solve area based anti-social behaviour to effectively utilise all tools and powers available.</li>
<li>Ensure all unauthorised encampments on Reading Borough Council owned land are removed as swiftly as possible and that residents, businesses and partners are kept updated.</li>
<li>When required, attend court and give evidence as a witness in area based anti-social behaviour cases and unauthorised encampment cases.</li>

You will need to be able to complete case records, collate evidence and write witness statements, all underpinned with excellent organisational &amp; IT skills and the ability to manage your own workload.

This is an exciting community focussed role which will require you to support the development of asset-based community development plans through connecting services with residents to jointly shape positive activity and outcomes to achieve sustainable resolutions to improve the lives of local residents. Main Duties and responsibilities:

<li>Support the development and monitor/refresh collaborative asset-based community development plans, which will drive locality delivery to improve outcomes for people living in those identified neighbourhoods and ensure those neighbourhoods feel clean, green and safe.</li>
<li>Act as a broker between neighbourhoods, internal RBC teams and partners to identify and progress activity to support neighbourhood change aimed at delivering improved outcomes and service priorities.</li>
<li>Work alongside the Community Development Officers to build knowledge of community priorities and ensure feedback from community consultations/conversations help shape neighbourhood plans and inform service development.</li>
<li>Build relationships with the local Voluntary and Community Sector organisations, including faith based and equalities led organisations, to identify opportunities to work together for the benefit of residents, including offering spaces or organisations to deliver activities more locally.</li>
<li>Support the promotion of neighbourhood related events and activities across services and partners to ensure maximum participation.</li>
<li>Work with the Community Centre Co-ordinator to ensure that activities delivered at the centres are shaped by residents.</li>
<li>Provide updates relating to Asset Based Community Development Plans and activity happening in local areas to improve outcomes for neighbourhoods and resident wellbeing at a range of forums and through written reports.</li>

About the Role:
As a Social Worker in the Mental Health Social Care Team, you will carry out Care Act assessments using a strength-based approach, aiming to achieve positive, person-centred outcomes for the people of Reading. You’ll also be responsible for completing post-discharge reviews, ensuring that care plans are accurate and that individuals' eligible needs are being met. A key aspect of the role includes promoting direct payments, enabling individuals to have greater choice and control over how their care needs are met. 
You’ll work collaboratively with individuals, their families and carers, making sure that Carers' Assessments are carried out to support those with a caring role. Emphasising a reablement-focused approach, you’ll help people regain independence wherever possible. You’ll also build effective working relationships with a range of community organisations, service providers, and health professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic support. 
The role involves undertaking Mental Capacity Act assessments to a high standard, along with Community Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) work and preparing documentation for the Court of Protection. As part of the wider team, you’ll contribute to a high-performing, outcome-focused service, working in line with the values and principles of TEAM Reading.

The Mental Health Social Care Team works collaboratively with other teams across Adult Services to deliver high-quality, person-centred adult social care. We support individuals through key life transitions—from adolescence into adulthood and into older age—ensuring continuity of care and positive outcomes at every stage.
