This vacancy is being advertised on behalf of Bracknell Town Council
Bracknell Town Council is seeking an experienced/qualified and responsible Tractor Operator to join our Grounds Maintenance Team. This is a full time, permanent role maintaining the council’s parks, open spaces and sports facilities.
<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Operate large tractors and mowing attachments to cut grass across parks, pitches and open spaces in a safe and efficient manner.</li>
<li>Perform routine maintenance, cleaning and basic repair tasks on tractors and mowing equipment</li>
<li>Transport tractors and attachments between work sites, navigating public roads when required</li>
<li>During of peak seasons, assist with ancillary grounds duties such as watering, weeding, pressure washing, playground inspections and general landscaping as needed subject to experience/training.</li>
<li>Strictly follow all health and safety protocols and operating procedures</li>
<li>Undertake training courses to maintain qualifications and skills</li>
</ul>
<h3>Requirements</h3>
<ul>
<li>Minimum 2 years’ verifiable experience operating large tractors and mowing equipment, preferably in horticulture, agriculture or grounds maintenance settings.</li>
<li>Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tractor operation, attachments like PTO and 3 point linkage, and basic maintenance procedures.</li>
<li>Experienced and comfortable operating machinery in public open spaces on roads.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently with a self-motivated, responsible and safety conscious approach</li>
<li>Willingness to pursue additional training and certifications related to the role</li>
<li>Valid driver’s license</li>
<li>Agricultural/horticultural qualifications are an advantage but not essential</li>
</ul>

You should have a recognised arboricultural qualification, such as a Level 6 Arboriculture Diploma, an MSc in Arboriculture or Forestry, Chartered Arboriculturist status, or 10 years of industry experience with relevant Local Authority experience. Your background will include managing complex operational contracts and effectively deploying tree and project officers.&nbsp; A deep understanding of the latest legislation, national and regional policies, and best practices in arboriculture and tree maintenance is essential. You should be knowledgeable about tree risk management, including detecting and managing diseases and handling tree-related insurance claims.&nbsp; Competence in the strategic management of IT systems to guide tree management is crucial. You must be able to deliver effective services and work in partnership with various departments, bodies, and agencies.
