The governors of St Nicholas Catholic High School are looking to appoint an experienced and
committed professional to join our Safeguarding Team. &nbsp;
Under the direction of the Designated Safeguarding Lead this post will work closely with parents, carers and school staff to enhance the support available to our most vulnerable students to ensure that they overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. &nbsp;
The successful candidate will possess resilience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of colleagues and multi agencies to safeguard our student’s welfare.
The role will include acting as the deputy safeguarding lead (DSL) when the DSL is offsite and representing the school at Child Protection and safeguarding meetings. You will also need to plan and deliver programmes of support to further student confidence, progress and attainment.
Previous experience of working with children and young people is essential, ideally in a similar role within an education setting.&nbsp;
This is a permanent contract, based on 35 hours per week over 41 weeks per year (Term-time plus INSET Days and 2 weeks in August), and includes 26 days holidays (plus bank holidays) increasing to 31 after 5 years’ service.

We require someone with initiative who is hardworking, flexible and highly motivated to take responsibility for providing the highest possible standards of cleanliness and maintenance of our learning environment.
Some of the main duties include;
<ul>
<li>Monitor, operate and maintain appropriate site security systems, including opening the building at the beginning of the school day, lettings outside school hours and liasing with the external security company regarding call outs as necessary to provide satisfactory security arrangements.</li>
<li>Efficient maintenance of the building and site, including liaising with contractors.</li>
<li>Can carry out minor repairs, general maintenance and decorating capably and follow a planned maintenance programme.</li>
<li>Maintain and monitor Health and Safety standards, reporting any failures to comply with the school’s statutory obligations in this area and ensure that contractor’s work meets Health and safety Regulations.</li>
<li>Knowledge of COSHH and Safe Work Practices.</li>
<li>Have a willingness to attend training courses including Health and Safety.</li>
<li>Certain administrative duties are required to ensure that statutory documentation is kept up to date.</li>
<li>Monitor site stock and order supplies.</li>
<li>Cleaning duties as required.</li>
</ul>
Typical hours will be worked Mon-Friday 7.30 am to 1.30pm. This is a 30 hour per week position. We are committed to supporting work-life balance and are open to discussing how these hours can be structured flexibly around school operations, provided all responsibilities are met effectively. Holidays to be taken outside of term time.
