Job Introduction

We’re looking for an exceptional Delivery Manager to help us make a difference to our planet.

As our Delivery Manager, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

World changing work

From science to technology, from meteorology to management, and from planning to communication, our expertise helps us stand out as the authority on weather accuracy and climate prediction. We help individuals, industries and government to make better decisions to stay safe and thrive. This is the Met Office. This is who we are.

  • We’re a force for good - focusing on our environmental and social impact
  • We’re experts by nature - always learning and developing to do things better
  • We live and breathe it - putting our purpose at the heart of decision-making
  • We’re better together - understanding partnerships and inclusivity make us greater
  • We keep evolving - pushing boundaries to make tomorrow better for our customers

Your world of expertise

We are looking for a Delivery Manager to help coordinate, prioritise and improve the flow of work through our Enterprise Design capability.

This role sits within Enterprise Design, wherewe provide specialist roles and support the Met Office in both projects and programmes as well as business as usual initiatives. Our teams include Business Analysis, Enterprise Architecture, Data Knowledge and information Management. This role will enable cross-cutting delivery across a multidisciplinary capability. You will work with internal teams, external delivery partners, suppliers and stakeholders to coordinate activity, manage dependencies, remove blockers and maintain momentum across a complex change landscape.

This is not a traditional delivery management role focused solely within technical and product development projects. As our Enterprise Design capability develops, the nature of this role will continue to evolve. We need someone who is comfortable working in a changing environment, bringing structure to ambiguity, supporting good governance and helping move ideas from design into implementation.

This will include practical delivery coordination as well as important administrative activity, such as maintaining records, preparing reports, following up actions and decisions, and keeping stakeholders engaged and informed. The role is especially important where delivery spans external delivery partners, internal teams, governance forums, suppliers and multiple business areas.

Your key duties:

You will:

  • Manage the Enterprise Design demand pipeline, ensuring requests are captured consistently, triaged, prioritised, assigned and tracked through to outcome.
  • Maintain Jira (planning & tracking tool) and associated reporting to provide a clear view of work in progress, priorities, capacity, dependencies, risks, assurance activity and delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate activity across Enterprise Architecture, Business Analysis, Knowledge and Information Management, Design Assurance specialists and relevant delivery partners.
  • Manage the workflow and administration of design assurance and related reviews, ensuring the right specialists are engaged at the right stage of demand and delivery.
  • Produce clear, proportionate management information on demand, capacity, assurance, delivery progress, risks, decisions, outcomes, finance and operational planning.
  • Maintain and improve Enterprise Design risk registers, supporting effective escalation, ownership and follow-through of risks, issues and actions.
  • Improve ways of working across Enterprise Design by reducing manual administration, clarifying processes and strengthening approaches to demand, governance, assurance and reporting.
  • Support the maintenance of Enterprise Design knowledge and communication channels, including MetNet (intranet) content, case studies and relevant standards or best-practice material.
  • Build effective working relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders, helping them understand how and when Enterprise Design should be engaged.

In this role, success will mean:

  • Enterprise Design demand is visible, consistently triaged and prioritised against agreed outcomes, capacity, risk and delivery commitments.
  • Leaders and stakeholders have a reliable view of work in progress, dependencies, assurance activity, decisions, risks and next steps.
  • Governance and assurance activity is well coordinated, with clear actions, decisions, escalations and specialist input at the right stage.
  • Stakeholders understand how to engage Enterprise Design and have confidence in the transparency, pace and control of work.]
  • Enterprise Design ways of working, reporting and knowledge channels are continuously improved to reduce duplication and support better outcomes.
