We are recruiting an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join the Berkshire Emergency Duty Service (EDS), hosted by Bracknell Forest Council. This full-time, rota-based role (37 hours per week, with part-time considered) offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality statutory mental health and social care interventions outside normal working hours, supported by an experienced management team in a rewarding and valued role.
Salary:&nbsp;The salary quoted consists of a base salary of £54,495 - £57,879 per year, 20% Responsibility Allowance, £729 London Weighting and £963 Essential Car User Allowance (pro rata for part time hours.
<h3>About you...</h3>
You are a qualified and registered Approved Mental Health Professional with a strong commitment to professional values and safeguarding. You bring confidence, resilience and sound judgement to complex and often high-pressure situations.
You will:
<ul>
<li>have a solid working knowledge of all relevant Mental Health Act (MHA), Social Care legislation and relevant Codes of Practice.</li>
<li>be a qualified AMHP and registered with the appropriate professional body (e.g. Social Work England, HCPC, NMC).</li>
<li>be able to work flexibly and effectively within multi-disciplinary and inter-agency environments as well as a robust understanding of how to apply the social perspective when working with people who have mental health disorders.</li>
<li>have good computer literacy and excellent report writing skills.</li>
<li>have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to analyse complex information towards effective risk management.</li>
</ul>
The ideal candidate will be proficient in organising and managing allocated work, making defensible decisions under pressure, and appropriately challenging others including members of the public and other professionals.

Berkshire Emergency Duty Service is a well-established, specialist out-of-hours service with a strong reputation for effective safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults, supported by positive feedback from Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Our multidisciplinary team includes Approved Mental Health Professionals, Senior Adults’ and Children’s Social Workers, Adult Safeguarding Care Coordinators and Call Screening Officers. Working closely with health partners, the police and other key stakeholders, we provide responsive support to service users of all ages experiencing social care or mental health crises.
Our AMHPs deliver a high-quality, responsive out-of-hours service, triaging incoming work, responding to Mental Health Act assessment requests and ensuring that service users’ legal rights are upheld. Brighton Women’s Service launched in January 2018 and is a female-only residential project providing 9 high/complex needs beds and 9 medium needs beds. The service has a trauma informed approach using a PIE model. The staff teams work in close collaboration with health partners and other agencies to ensure that the combined programme of specialist support enables service users to meet their personal goals.

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a focused engagement with children who have gone missing. As a Missing Support Worker, you’ll be offering, high-quality return home interviews with children who go missing sometimes as a one off or sometimes more regularly. You work will help in reducing future missing episodes, address contextual safeguarding risks and assess safeguarding concerns. Your reports will make recommendations to prevent further missing episodes based on your visit with the child. It is integral every contact is underpinned by strong engagement skills so children feel safe to talk to you and you are able to engage children who may not find that easy. You will need good people skills and experience of engaging young people effectively in creative and non-judgemental ways. You will have a caring nature and be professionally curious about why a young person has gone missing and the impact of missing on the child(ren). You will have awareness of why return home interviews are undertaken and the themes and trends around missing children. Also, your approach will be trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally competent, to ensure these responsive visits are impactful and supportive even when you may only engage with this child on a one-off occasion. While you will receive good support you will work independently, mostly carrying out visits on your own. You will be required to manage your own schedule and caseload, often under tight timeframes. The role requires extensive travel across the region, so flexibility and self-motivation and self-resilience are essential. Our goal is to deliver exceptional care that enhances outcomes for our community whilst providing an inclusive, diverse and stable environment for staff to grow their career.Mental Health TeamWithin our boroughwide specialist service, there are three social work teams - The Transition Team, The Learning Disability Team, and the Mental Health Team.The Mental Health Team coordinates social care for individuals with complex mental health needs. Alongside delivering the AMHP service, the Mental Health Team also works closely with inpatient services promoting timely discharges for those in psychiatric admissions, coordinates community based support for individuals with social care needs related to their mental health, including S117 aftercare as well as meeting other statutory duties under the Care Act and providing Social Supervision to Conditionally Discharged clients.The AMHP roles are based within our full time dedicated AMHP service working out of Wallington alongside our health colleagues completing Mental Health Act assessments on a daily basis.&nbsp; However, there may be times when additional responsibilities under the Care Act may be required as part of the wider mental health service.&nbsp;&nbsp;About the Role and Our Ideal CandidateAs part of the transformation within the London Borough of Sutton’s Adult Social Care service, we are recruiting Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) within the Mental Health Team. Reporting to the Team Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering top-quality, responsive care to individuals with mental health needs who require assessment under the Mental Health Act. The objective is to ensure that those in greatest need receive the support they require while safeguarding their rights and ensuring their safety. Your responsibilities will include:&nbsp;<ul><li>Conducting assessments under the Mental Health Act to accurately identify and address individuals' needs.</li><li>Collaborating with individuals, their families, and other professionals to create personalised care plans that foster recovery and well-being.</li></ul>As an AMHP, you advocate for the rights and preferences of the individuals under our care, ensuring their voices are heard and respected throughout the assessment and treatment process.
