About the role
We're looking for a Deputy Service Manager to join our residential service based in Croydon. You will support the Service Manager to provide leadership and line management to a team of Night Recovery Workers and Night Concierge which totals around 10. You will be present to ensure a quality service is delivered 24 hours a day, working closely with the day teams to ensure quality handovers.&nbsp;
You will provide general leadership to the team so they feel empowered to be productive and perform well within their roles, supporting a service which focuses on Forensic Mental Health for 27 people across 4 sites in Croydon. About the role
This is a great opportunity for a Deputy Service Manager to join our team based in Wembley. You will work within a residential setting, creating a safe and comfortable space which our residents can call their homes during their time within the service. The role includes:

You will be based at Staines Community Centre but also provide cover across all 3 Centres in Spelthorne providing a range social and physical activities for older people. Your tasks will vary from working in the kitchen to running Centres with no on-site supervision and driving our Meals on wheels.
This is a fulfilling role that requires the ability to think on your feet, communicate well with others and be adaptable to ever changing priorities. You will need to be enthusiastic and flexible in your approach to work. Your role will include working with older people who are often very vulnerable so you will need a caring disposition and must be able to remain calm in all circumstances. Excellent organisation and communication skills are essential for this post. Knowledge of health and safety and food hygiene regulations is desirable.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for customer facing posts.&nbsp; These posts fall within the scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.&nbsp; The Council, therefore, has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. As a Senior SEND Commissioning Officer, you will be a key player in ensuring the best outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). You'll use your strong background in education, health, or social care commissioning to monitor complex cases, including those that are jointly funded or involve high-cost, bespoke provision. This role requires you to represent the team in multi-agency discussions and decision-making forums, balancing the needs of children with the efficient use of public resources. You'll build relationships with commercial providers and conduct quality assurance to ensure young people are safe and well-supported. You will also provide guidance to colleagues, lead on projects to develop our commissioning function, and occasionally deputise for the SEND Commissioning &amp; Partnerships Lead.

Your responsibilities will include:

<li>Providing oversight and monitoring for complex cases, including those that are jointly funded or involve high-cost, bespoke provision.</li>
<li>Serving as a key representative in decision-making forums and multi-agency discussions.</li>
<li>Building and maintaining relationships with commercial providers while undertaking crucial quality assurance activities.</li>
<li>Working closely with the wider SEND service to advise on complex cases and contribute to service operations.</li>
<li>Leading projects related to your area of expertise to help develop the SEND Commissioning function.</li>
<li>Line managing or providing guidance to other members of the SEND Commissioning Team, and occasionally deputising for the SEND Commissioning &amp; Partnerships Lead.</li>

<h2>About you</h2>
<ul>
<li>Educated to a degree level and/or significant experience of commissioning in this or a related area</li>
<li>Experience in leading a team, undertaking line management, performance management and change management.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Understanding of relevant SEND legislation (including Children &amp; Families Act 2014 &amp; SEND Code of Practice)</li>
<li>Significant experience of market shaping and management, needs analysis, development of sustainable commissioning strategies/intentions, stake-holder engagement/consultation, contract management and performance of placements for SEND and social care.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Experience of building strong partnerships, maintaining relationships and co-producing solutions to challenges across a diverse set of stakeholders, including significant experience of working with providers to promote cost effective working relationships maximising customer experience and positive outcomes for service users and their carers/families.</li>
