Join our Housing Specialisms Team at L&Q:

L&Q is one of the UK’s largest housing associations and providers of social and affordable homes. We house around 250,000 people primarily across Greater London and Greater Manchester. Our purpose is simple – to provide social homes and landlord services that everyone can be proud of.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate colleague to join us as a Domestic Abuse Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of our residents.

The Domestic Abuse Specialist plays a vital role in supporting residents experiencing domestic abuse, working closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure safety, wellbeing, and access to specialist services. You will work in partnership with our front-line housing teams to ensure confidence and best practice when supporting residents who are currently, or who have experienced domestic abuse.

Resident safety and satisfaction are at the heart of everything we do. We expect our Coordinators to have demonstrable experience working with MARAC and victims/survivors of domestic abuse. Candidates will need excellent interpersonal skills, a trauma-informed approach, and the ability to manage sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.

You will have excellent practical knowledge of legislation, regulation, and best practice in the fields of domestic abuse and safeguarding. You will also have strong case management skills when working with complex cases, making assessments, formulating solutions, managing risks, and safety planning effectively.

If this sounds like you, we would love for you to apply!

Your impact in the role:

  • Coordinate MARAC Cases: Take ownership of all domestic abuse cases that meet the MARAC threshold, ensuring actions are tracked, completed on time, and accountability is maintained.
  • Act as Single Point of Contact: Serve as the primary liaison for multi-agency partners regarding MARAC cases, fostering strong collaborative relationships.
  • Facilitate Complex Case Management: Support effective safeguarding for customers with complex needs through robust case coordination and problem-solving.
  • Engage with Victims/Survivors: Proactively contact individuals whose cases are being heard at MARAC, offering reassurance and clear information about next steps.
  • Ensure Smooth Internal Handover: Manage transitions to internal support services when additional assistance is required, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Maintain Accurate Information: Keep detailed, compliant records of MARAC cases and actions in line with data protection and safeguarding standards.

What you'll bring:

  • Expertise in Domestic Abuse: Minimum 2 years’ experience managing high-risk domestic abuse cases, including MARAC coordination, risk assessment (DASH), and safety planning.
  • Strong Legal & Best Practice Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, safeguarding frameworks, housing law, and legal remedies for survivors.
  • Trauma-Informed Approach: Ability to apply trauma-informed practice and champion survivor-focused decision-making.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Skilled in partnership working with statutory and voluntary agencies, influencing and advising at all levels.
  • Communication & Leadership: Proven ability to mentor staff, challenge decisions professionally, and embed best practice across services.
  • Organisational Skills: Highly organised, able to manage complex caseloads, prioritise effectively, and respond to urgent reviews (e.g., Serious Case Reviews, Domestic Homicide Reviews).
  • Qualifications: Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience (essential). SafeLives/Women’s Aid Level 3 and safeguarding training (desirable).
