The Role

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Social Worker or Social Work Manager to come and join our Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Team as an Independent Safeguarding &amp; Reviewing Officer (ISRO).&nbsp;This is a varied role reflecting the size of the organisation. Our ISRO’s have responsibility for quality assuring the care planning and statutory review process for children and young people in the care of the Local Authority, chairing regular child in care reviews and monitoring progress of care planning. You will also chair Child Protection Conferences in line with current North Somerset Safeguarding Children Partnership procedures, as well as having quality assurance oversight for the duration of those plans.&nbsp;You will also have a key role in contributing towards the development of quality assurance activity across Children’s Services along with other colleagues ensuring service standards and impact upon children are adhered to.
North Somerset is embedding the Signs of Safety model into practice. CP conferences and children in care reviews reflect this and the ISRO/CP chairs need to be familiar with using this model to work with families and ensure children are supported by the best plans.&nbsp;You will need to have a sound knowledge of childcare legislation, safeguarding, inter-agency policies and procedures and current developments in children’s services.&nbsp; You will require substantial experience of working with children in care and children who are subject to child protection plans, including complex legal proceedings.&nbsp;

In this role, you will have the following key responsibilities;

<li>Responsible for chairing Statutory Reviews for Children in Care, Child Protection Case Conferences and managing allegations against staff and volunteers (LADO)</li>

Work effectively with partners from other agencies to support individual children and families and improve their life chances</li>

The Role
We are very excited to be launching our Social Care Academy in September! Our Academy will support the learning and development of our social work students, apprentices, and newly qualified social workers, as well as promote learning and development across the social care workforce. Our Practice Educators will support newly qualified social workers undertaking their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment through direct observation, thematic learning, and assessment of practice in line with established competencies within the programme.
You would be joining us at an exciting time of improvement and innovation; as well as launching our Academy, our Practice Approach, Building Connections, sees us&nbsp;continue to embed restorative practice with a relational approach and a trauma- informed lens.
Our Practice Educators will work closely with the Academy Manager and social work teams across the Directorate, to ensure that Academy learners are equipped to practice effectively and well supported on their development journeys.

About You
You will have significant social work experience which includes direct experience of supervising social workers or social work students. You will be passionate about learning and development, and have a proven track record of effective assessment of social care practice. You will hold an in-depth knowledge of relational and trauma-informed practice approaches and be a skilled communicator.

The Adult Social Care Review Team covers a wide remit of reviews and reassessment across the Wirral, working with persons recently discharged from hospital and those residing in the community. The Review Team supports with various adult social care projects and at-risk care home and domiciliary providers.
In addition, collaborating with Wirral contracts &amp; commissioning and quality improvement teams, adhering to outcomes focused and legal literate practices. The Review Team offers a plethora of opportunities for practitioners seeking to strengthen their practice and apply transferrable knowledge and skills in a CPD focused team. Social Workers are required to support with the latter service delivery, utilising assessment, and intervention skills, framed in legal literate practices. Experience of working with older adults.
The work is diverse, and the aim is to promote the wellbeing of adults with care and support needs to continuously improve their outcomes, creating lasting connections with their local community.
