About the Role
You will join a growing and respected team leading the development of our place-based pipeline of transport projects, who have recently secured £1.6 billion from Central Government to deliver transformational change to the city region.

About the Role
The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is investing in the future of transport—and the Lead Officer - Transport Development will be central to shaping that future.
Reporting to the Head of Network Development, this strategic role leads our Transport Development Team and works with sponsors, to develop, fund and appraise projects in line with HM Treasury’s Green Book, Department for Transport’s WebTAG appraisal methodology and the SIF Assurance Framework. You will aim to fund projects through Transport for City Regions (TCR) funding that are affordable, deliverable and value for money through shaping and reviewing of project business cases.

We have an exciting opportunity available for an Active Travel Officer (Cycle Training/Schools) to join the My Journey team in a permanent, part-time role supporting the programme objectives to fulfil the borough’s needs for cycle training with all ages, in schools and communities, including management of our Bikeability cycle training programme.
A key part of the role involves contract management of a recognised Bikeability company to outsource Bikeability training in Wokingham Borough schools, including monitoring and analysis/input of some data and procuring when necessary. &nbsp;Overseeing the Bikeability grant funded work involves applying and receiving the grant and managing the delivery and quality of the Bikeability contract with the supplier, including liaison with the Bikeability Trust.
Other duties and responsibilities:

<li>Assisting schools in achieving the national Modeshift accreditation with organising, promoting, supporting and delivering cycle training and related activities such as leading bike rides and organising/delivering safer cycling talks and workshops eg Dr Bike in schools and bike maintenance in the community, all enabling children and adults to gain skills and confidence to travel more sustainably and safely.</li>
<li>Leading weekly Balance Bike Clubs (age 2-4 years) and Learn to Ride sessions (age 5–10 years).</li>
<li>Supporting the My Journey team at events (including programme monitoring) to promote cycling and active travel and the wider benefits of sustainable travel on climate change, air quality and health and well-being with internal and external partnership working.&nbsp;</li>

About the Role
This role is crucial in ensuring our contract management function across both bus and rail are delivering effective contract management to our franchised bus network and the Merseyrail concession.

Casual staff required to act as Passenger Assistants on home to school transport for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities attending special schools and bases.
Passenger Assistants are employed to supervise children and to ensure their health and safety whilst travelling on vehicles contracted to the Authority. Casual staff will be employed to cover for sickness or leave of absence for permanent escorts employed by the Authority.

You will play a key role in translating our transport plans and strategies into reality, improving connectivity and encouraging travel by sustainable modes. The role will develop transport schemes and programmes of activity included in our plans, and progress them into deliverable interventions. This will include leading on feasibility and design work, stakeholder engagement and accessing funding.The role will also support the coordination of developer funding secured for transport improvements through the planning process and manage the delivery of non-major transport schemes, some of which would either be wholly, or in part, developer funded.The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of project management methodology and techniques, as well as some experience working in a transport planning or service role. They should be motivated to further develop their project management skills and knowledge of highways and transport service delivery. &nbsp;<h2>Additional information</h2>You should have a good understanding of project management, and some knowledge of transport, planning and sustainability issues common to a role in local government Highways Department. You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as effective relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers will be key to success. You should be motivated to develop your project management skills and knowledge of transport service delivery. The role holder should be able to work with minimal supervision, work off their own initiative and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
