Full time
£41,782 - £46,606 per year

What will you be doing?

At Kent County Council, we have ambitious plans to improve the lives of our 1.6 million residents. Delivering for a county of this size means tackling complex challenges, offering varied and rewarding work, and constantly striving to improve how we do things. That’s where you come in.

By joining one of the largest local authorities in the UK, you’ll play a key role in supporting both children and adults across Kent while developing your own career in the process.

As Bus Grant Programme Manager you will work within the Public Transport Department's Policy and Strategy team, leading on the delivery of a high profile, high value and wide ranging initiative programme linked to Kent’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).

You will direct and support a team of project leads to deliver initiatives across a range of areas aimed at supporting Kent’s bus offer including fares and ticketing, bus stop infrastructure, bus priority, network development and accessibility. You will have direct input into the management of external grant funding of approximately £25m per annum, lead of reporting requirements and play a key role in overseeing the programme to ensure effective, timely and cost effective implementation aligned with strategic priorities and grant conditions.

This is a fast paced and highly varied role where no two days are the same. To succeed in this role you will have proven experience of project management, stakeholder working, budget management and team supervision. You will be passionate about delivering high-quality services to the people of Kent, interested in transport and how it supports communities, be proficient at report writing, be a strong communicator and be able to work to tight and conflicting deadlines to your own initiative.

In return, you’ll benefit from a strong work-life balance with access to a range of employee rewards and benefits. You will work within a supportive team environment based in Aylesford, working a 37-hour week, typically between 08:00 and 17:00. The role has flexible working arrangements, including a mix of home and office-based work.
