Job Introduction

Cycle Training & Projects Coordinator - 2 year fixed term contract

About Us

Our Greenwich Plan sets out our vision for the next 4 years focusing on the changes we collectively want to see in our borough and Council. We want to become a more strategic, efficient and adaptive organisation, to deliver for our communities. Our workforce is key to making this happen.

Royal Greenwich is a borough synonymous with first class modern services. Our vibrant, diverse communities span Greenwich town centre in the west, to Thamesmead in the east, from the Greenwich Peninsula in the north to Eltham in the south. Royal Greenwich has a reputation for combining ambition with delivery. We are on a journey towards a low carbon future and the sustainability agenda will influence all areas of the Council’s work.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the Council’s ambitions for our future transport network, implement high-profile schemes and maintain a strong grip on the delivery of key projects.

To be successful in this post you will be as comfortable with strategy as you are with leading large operations. You will need to bring energy, tenacity and strong communication skills. You will thrive on data and evaluation to evidence and inform delivery and service improvements.

Above all, you’ll be committed to delivering an efficient, well-connected network that our residents love – with a carbon footprint that we can be proud of, as well as delivering the councils Transport Strategy.

About the Role

This role is a 2-year fixed term contract.

This position presents an excellent opportunity to join the Traffic team in delivering high quality cycle training and other cycling projects throughout the borough. As the lead Cycle Training officer for the Council, you will manage the contract with the cycle training provider, which provides National Standards Bikeability Cycle training to all children and adults, including individuals and groups with special needs, living, studying or working in the borough.

Cycle training and associated projects are important elements of the borough’s commitment to deliver “more cycling, more often, and even more safely”, as outlined in the Royal Greenwich Cycling Strategy. Collaborating closely with the School Travel Plan Coordinator, Road Safety Officers and other cross-sectional departments dedicated to fostering active and healthy lifestyles, you will be part of an enthusiastic team focused on delivering high quality projects that encourage and support active, safe and environmentally friendly travel.

We are looking for a strong and highly motivated officer, who is a team player with energy and a strong commitment to probity, honesty, and openness, treating people consistently, fairly and with respect.

Able to understand travel related issues, governance and processes, you’ll be a strategic thinker with the ability to work methodically and help to and deliver innovative solutions.
