About the City of London

We are seeking two experienced, value-driven Statutory Housing Officers to be part of a small dynamic team responding to the City of London statutory homelessness needs and rough sleeping. The City continues to have one of the highest numbers of rough sleepers and continues to develop its response in the unique setting of the Square Mile.  

About the Role 

You will be part of our Statutory Housing Advice Service, taking applications and issuing decisions whilst maintaining a strong focus on quality, outcomes and strength-based practice while working at pace.  

Working alongside colleagues in Rough Sleeping, Homelessness Health and our Pathways Team as well as a wider multidisciplinary service including Social Workers, and Strengths‑Based Practitioners, you will work closely with commissioned providers and internal partners to ensure coordinated, safe and effective support for those approaching the City. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Assessing applicants’ housing needs and responding to enquiries from members of the public providing accurate information 

  • Making arrangements for homeless people, and those threatened with homelessness, including the use of temporary accommodation where appropriate 

  • Working collaboratively with commissioning and health partners 

  • Championing anti‑racist, anti‑oppressive and inclusive practice 

You will report to the Senior Housing Officer and play an active role in developing services and the City of London Corporation’s response to Homelessness and Rough Sleeping.  

About You

You will be an experienced Housing Officer with Statutory Homelessness experience and knowledge of the Housing Act, the Homelessness Reduction Act, and Universal Credit, knowledge of the Renters Rights Act would be an advantage however training will be provided to successful applicants.  

You will demonstrate: 

  • Sound knowledge of Homelessness and Housing legislation and statutory duties 

  • Commitment to strengths‑based and person‑centred practice 

  • Confidence working across organisational boundaries 

  • A reflective, resilient and compassionate approach to working with vulnerable people 

  • Openness to innovation and change
