Job summary
As Senior Internal Audit Manager, you will play a key role in helping The Pensions Regulator deliver its objectives by providing independent assurance, insight and challenge across the organisation. Working closely with the Head of Internal Audit, you will lead the delivery of the Internal Audit plan, oversee a team of Internal Auditors, and manage relationships with external delivery partners. You will work with senior leaders to ensure audit activity aligns with organisational priorities, risks and desired outcomes, while helping to strengthen governance, risk management and control frameworks. The role involves overseeing audit work from planning through to reporting and follow-up, providing evidence-based assurance and identifying opportunities for improvement. You will also contribute to organisational transformation by offering insight into change risks, delivery and value realisation. Alongside leading audit activity, you will coach and develop colleagues, build strong relationships across the organisation, and help create a culture of continuous improvement. Through your work, you will support effective decision-making and help ensure that The Pensions Regulator continues to deliver value and positive outcomes for savers and the wider pensions landscape.Job description
- Hold either a Chartered/MIIA internal audit qualification (or international equivalent recognised by IIA Global) or full membership of a recognised CCAB accountancy body.
- Extensive senior-level internal audit experience, including engagement with Executive Committee and Board stakeholders.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, supporting personal and professional development.
- Experience delivering robust, evidence-based and independent assurance opinions to agreed timescales.
- Deep knowledge of internal audit standards, governance, risk management and control frameworks.
- Knowledge of financial and operational risks and controls in a government context, with the ability to identify weaknesses and develop practical solutions.
- Strong communication, consulting and influencing skills, including the ability to provide constructive challenge and translate audit findings into clear recommendations.
- Experience working in complex or changing environments, with a focus on continuous improvement, innovation and organisational impact.
