About the role

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue (LFR) are advertising for the role of Water Planning Manger within the Resources Department.

The post holder will advise LFR’s representative on LCCs development groups including the Service Impact of Growth Group, considering applications for Section 106 grants to support future developments.

Management of the implementation of water supplies for fire fighting will be part of the role, having oversight of the maintenance programme, new schemes and abandonments.

The applicant will be working as part of a team which supports all functions of LFR delivery.

The role will require dedication to detail, the ability to prioritise their own work programme with minimum supervision.

Have the ability to set targets for staff and ensure compliance within standards service delivery.

The role will require knowledge of planning legislation and Fire Safety approved document B, relevant road working legislation.

The candidate will need to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and numerical skills. Have the ability to use technology including spreadsheets, word processing and data base systems.

The ability to read understand and explain technical drawings and plans is essential.

The role will require line management for three staff members.

About you

Essential Criteria:

  • An in-depth understanding of the highway code and relevant road working legislation to ensure that all guidance and policies adhere to law
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and numerical skills
  • Ability to read, understand and explain technical drawings and plans
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, time management, negotiation and influencing skills
  • A full clean driving licence

Desirable Criteria:

  • A working knowledge of Approved Document B and relevant guidance to support planning responses in relation to relevant areas for Fire and Rescue
  • Highly competent in the use of a wide range of information technology, including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, database systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and consultation management systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, prioritise own work programme, measure and evaluate own performance and progress
  • Knowledge of the waste management and minerals industries and the legislation and technologies impacting upon these sectors
  • Listening, analytical and research skills relevant to planning
  • Knowledge of legislation in related regulatory sectors and the work of organisations involved in these areas
  • Knowledge of other disciplines such as transport and economic development that have land-use planning implications
  • Able to identify service needs opportunities and weaknesses
