Shape the Future of the City

The City of London is one of the world's most dynamic and rapidly evolving urban environments, with major construction projects taking place alongside internationally significant businesses, historic buildings and residential communities.

We are seeking a highly motivated Construction Impacts Officer to help manage the environmental impacts associated with development and construction activity across the Square Mile.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of one of the UK's most complex urban environments, ensuring that construction projects are delivered responsibly while protecting residents, businesses and visitors from noise, dust, vibration and other environmental impacts.

About the Role

As a Construction Impacts Officer, you will:

  • Act as a key point of contact for major construction and demolition projects.

  • Monitor compliance with the City's construction impact policies and standards.

  • Investigate complaints relating to construction noise, dust, vibration and associated nuisances.

  • Work collaboratively with developers, contractors, consultants and residents to resolve issues proactively.

  • Review Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), logistics plans and method statements.

  • Undertake inspections and site visits across a range of construction projects.

  • Analyse monitoring data and prepare reports, correspondence and enforcement recommendations.

  • Support the delivery of the City's Considerate Construction and environmental improvement objectives.

  • Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders on construction environmental management.

About You

You will have:

  • Experience working within environmental health, construction management, environmental protection, planning, regulatory services or a related field.

  • Knowledge of construction-related environmental impacts, including noise, dust, vibration and air quality.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

  • The ability to negotiate effective solutions while maintaining regulatory standards.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload.

  • Experience of interpreting legislation, guidance and technical data.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • A qualification in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Acoustics, Construction Management or a related discipline.

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Control of Pollution Act 1974, Environmental Protection Act 1990 and associated guidance.

  • Experience working with large-scale urban development projects.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to influence major developments in one of the world's leading financial centres.

  • A supportive and collaborative professional environment.

  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

  • Excellent learning and development opportunities.

  • Local Government Pension Scheme.

  • Generous annual leave and wellbeing benefits.
