Job Introduction

If you're looking for more than just tree work, this could be a great fit. Join Wyre Forest District Council and take on a varied role caring for trees across parks, open spaces, woodlands and other council-owned land.

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Arborist to join our team. In this role, you will help maintain the trees within our open spaces to a high standard, ensuring they are healthy, well-managed and safe for the public. You will play a key role in supporting the ongoing care and maintenance of our tree stock while helping to protect and enhance our green spaces.

No two days are the same. One day you might be pruning or planting, the next you could be carrying out inspections, responding to emergency call-outs or getting involved in conservation work. You will be helping to look after and protect the district’s trees while working as part of a friendly, skilled team.

The postholder will support the activities of a small team of arboriculture staff, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, competently and to a high standard. They will also undertake routine machinery maintenance and ensure the safe and correct use of equipment and vehicles.

The role requires a flexible approach, with the ability to work on a rota basis covering a variety of shifts, including weekends, evenings, bank holidays and Christmas working. You may also be required to work outside normal hours from time to time to meet operational demands, respond to emergencies and as part of the out-of-hours rota.

This is a practical, hands-on role involving outdoor working and may require an element of physical exertion and mobility on an occasional or frequent basis.

Why join us?

  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Generous annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • High-quality equipment and PPE
  • A great variety of work across parks, open spaces, streets, woodlands and other council-owned land

If you’re passionate about arboriculture and want a role where your work really makes a difference to the local environment, we’d love to hear from you.

We understand you may use AI tools to help you prepare your application. While these tools can be helpful, please ensure everything you share about your experiences, skills and qualifications is authentic and truly reflects you. Your genuine story and real achievements are what we’re most interested in!
