Through a range of programmes, you can make a genuine difference:Independent Visitors – Befriending Service (Ages 8–17)Independent Visitors (IVs) are matched with children in care to offer friendship, consistency, and fun experiences. Many have little or no contact with their birth families. You’ll visit regularly and enjoy activities together — such as going to the park, cinema, theatre, bowling, or exploring new hobbies — building trust, confidence, and a sense of stability. Develop Me Mentoring Programme (Ages 16–25)Develop Me matches mentors with young people in care and care leavers to help them set and achieve personal goals, explore education or work opportunities, and build life skills. You’ll offer encouragement, promote wellbeing, and provide a safe space to talk, helping them grow in confidence and independence. Next Step – Befriending Service (Ages 16–25) Next Step supports care experienced young people who may be socially isolated. Volunteers offer friendship, companionship, and opportunities to socialise. You’ll help them build connections, improve wellbeing, and learn practical skills such as cooking, budgeting, and preparing for work, alongside creative and fitness activities to boost confidence. As a volunteer, you will be a positive, consistent presence in a young person’s life, offering encouragement, guidance, and a safe space to talk. Wirral Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Youth Justice Service Team Manager to join our nationally recognised Youth Justice Service. This is a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team working with some of the most vulnerable and complex young people in our community, delivering trauma-informed, child-first interventions that reduce offending and improve life outcomes.
About the Role
As Team Manager, you will be part of a multi-agency service committed to early intervention, restorative practice, and contextual safeguarding under the Harm Outside the Home umbrella. This role provides operational leadership and supervision to Youth Justice practitioners, oversees risk and vulnerability management, safeguarding, and public protection. You will ensure compliance with Youth Justice Board standards and HMIP inspection frameworks and lead on quality assurance, performance monitoring, and strategic reporting.
About the Candidate
The successful candidate will be a qualified professional with substantial experience in youth justice, safeguarding, and multi-agency working. You should have proven leadership and management skills with a strong understanding of criminal justice and childcare legislation. We’re looking for someone with a commitment to equality, trauma-informed practice, and child-first approaches.

You'll possess a strong understanding of climate change, strategic funding programs, current energy generation technologies, and sustainable development, coupled with a determination to create positive change.
You'll have proven experience in securing resources, managing large-scale projects, strong technical analytical abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills. Collaborating with council service areas, key stakeholders, and the community, you'll inspire action and influence decision-making.
We're excited about the potential for this area of work to expand, and with the right candidate, this post will naturally evolve and grow. Working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team, you'll be pivotal in driving positive change across Pendle.
Pendle is in Lancashire’s scenic Pennines, close to the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, and Manchester.

About the role…… Within this diverse and interesting role the post holder will: • &nbsp; &nbsp;Provide leadership to our adult education provision and will be key in working with colleagues, including those in Adult Social Care, to develop a varied learning offer • &nbsp; &nbsp;Work closely with the Living Well Rutland Service Manager to drive innovations that will have a real impact on opportunities to learn in locations close to home.&nbsp;
Through a programme that will include informal events, short courses, family learning and accredited qualifications, learners will experience success and the joy of lifelong learning.
The successful applicant for this post will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The costs for the DBS are paid by us.
