Community Highways Technical Support Officer

We are committed to fixing more roads and improving transport and digital connections and we are making significant investment into our network. To ensure we can deliver our ambitious Highways Transformation we are looking to grow our team and develop talent for the future.

There are two full-time roles available, based at either of our four Highways depots - one role based in either the Leek or Stone depot, one role base in either the Lichfield or Gailey depot.

Main Responsibilities

The roles available will support the local Community Highways team to provide a community-based approach to the delivery of the highway service, improving elected member and community satisfaction.

You will:

  • analysis complex data
  • prepare technical project briefs and drawings, with a significant attention to detail
  • have a broad working knowledge of highway services and the associated legislation and regulations
  • prepare monthly KPI's and monitor the performance and delivery of commissioned activities against agreed timescales
  • investigate highway issues, solve highway challenges and provide informed responses to enquiries
  • support elected members with appropriate advice and guidance.
  • support the Community Highways Manager in ensuring the team to provide a first-line response to enquiries
  • be the go-to person for community enquiries related to highways.
  • interrogate digital records and GIS systems,
  • collate information to respond to correspondence
  • support the production of reports and programmes of work.
  • liaise and engage with other teams on local insight
The Ideal Candidate

You'll have:

  • experience of working with complex data and responding to written and verbal enquiries
  • business administration experience or equivalent qualifications
  • excellent customer service skills,
  • an ability to interpret maps with a good attention to detail.
