Early Help responds to the emerging needs of children and their families, focusing on building their resilience as well as providing help at a time when evidence indicates that support can have the most impact. Coventry continues to invest in the Early Help Service and is proud of the work that is delivered by a multi-agency team from the 8 Family Hubs located in the communities across the city

We are dedicated and committed to helping empower children, young people, and families to build resilience and thrive. By collaborating with the Supporting Families Teams, Social Care Teams and a wide range of partners, we will ensure that families receive the right help at the right time by the right people.

Coventry was one of the 15 Local Authorities who was selected to be a ‘trailblazer ’; we will share our learning and best practise with other Local Authorities across the UK. We will continue to lead the way and be able to evidence the difference we make to children and families' lives. Join us in making a difference.

What is the job role?

Make a difference from the very beginning.

We're looking for a passionate and dedicated Best Start Inclusion Practitioner to help babies and young children with emerging or identified SEND get the best possible start in life.

Working as part of a multi-agency Family Hub team, you'll support families, deliver targeted interventions, champion inclusive practice, and help identify needs early so children can thrive. You'll work closely with parents, health professionals, early years settings and community partners to ensure every child receives the right support at the right time.

If you're committed to inclusion, passionate about early years development, and want to change lives for children and families, we'd love to hear from you.

Join us and help every child reach their full potential.

This role is fixed-term until March 2029.

All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.

This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such, appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

We're seeking an experienced and passionate early years professional who is committed to helping children with SEND achieve the best possible start in life. You'll have experience as a SENCO or equivalent, a strong understanding of child development, inclusion and SEND pathways, and the ability to build trusted relationships with families and professionals.

You'll be confident delivering targeted interventions, coaching others in inclusive practice, and working collaboratively across education, health and care services. Most importantly, you'll be warm, empathetic, solution-focused and dedicated to improving outcomes for children and families.

If you're passionate about inclusion and making a lasting difference, we'd love to hear from you.

  • If you consider yourself to be disabled or if you have a long-term health condition
