Green Spaces Inspector

Parks
£32,535 - £33,987 per year

Help keep Hillingdon's parks, playgrounds and green spaces safe and enjoyable for all. We are looking for a proactive and motivated Green Spaces Inspector to monitor safety standards, carry out site inspections and support the delivery of high-quality public spaces across the borough.

In this important role, you will help ensure that parks, cemeteries, playgrounds and other green spaces are safe, well-maintained and compliant with required safety standards. Working independently and as part of a wider team, you will:

  • Conduct routine inspections of playgrounds, outdoor gyms, skate parks and BMX facilities to ensure compliance with RoSPA standards.
  • Inspect parks, open spaces and cemeteries to ensure public safety and quality standards are maintained.
  • Implement, review and maintain risk assessments across sites.
  • Investigate accidents and insurance claims, producing reports as required.
  • Identify and take action on land encroachment issues affecting Council-owned land.
  • Respond to resident enquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Liaise with internal services, contractors and stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and inspection databases.
  • Ensure urgent safety actions are implemented promptly.

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, observant and able to work independently across a varied portfolio of sites.

You will have:

  • Experience carrying out inspections, audits, compliance checks or similar monitoring activities.
  • A good understanding of health and safety principles, risk assessments and site safety requirements.
  • Strong investigative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and recommend appropriate action.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with residents, contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Good IT skills, with experience maintaining accurate records, databases and reports.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, work proactively and respond effectively to urgent matters.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • The ability to work outdoors across varied terrain and in different weather conditions.

You will be committed to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining the high standards expected across Hillingdon's parks, playgrounds, cemeteries and green spaces.
