The Role

We are seeking dedicated and reliable Casual Community Meals Delivery Officers to join our Community Meals Team. The team is responsible for delivering hot, nutritious meals to vulnerable residents across the North Somerset area. We are a friendly face and support people being able to remain at home, once they are unable to cook for themselves. A welfare check is completed with each service user, this is a check to ensure our service users are well, hydrated, their home is to the correct temperature, and our staff may be the connection they have for when things are not right.

We offer full training for this role, including driving and new staff are accompanied on their rounds to ensure they are competent in the role.

You will be supported by 2 x Lead Drivers and a Community Meals Team Manager.

Our service operates 7 days per week over 52 weeks with no delivery on Christmas and New Years Day.

Delivery Officers are required to work between 10:30 and 14:00, Monday to Friday, with weekend and Bank Holiday shifts.

All applicants must hold a full UK driving licence (Category B minimum) and be willing to submit this for regular checks. An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver hot, nutritious meals to service users in a timely manner
  • Carry out a basic welfare check at each delivery, ensuring the service user:
    • Feels well
    • Is able to eat their meal
    • Is appropriately hydrated
  • Report any concerns to the Business Support team
  • Work independently while following designated delivery routes
  • Demonstrate a strong team ethic, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive working environment
  • Provide excellent customer care and act with compassion and respect at all times
  • Take pride in contributing to a service that supports vulnerable residents and strengthens the local community
  • Carry out deliveries in a range of weather conditions

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
