Business Intelligence Lead

Business Intelligence Lead

Business Intelligence
£60,633 - £62,742 per year

Job Description

Discover yourself in Lewisham where what you do makes a difference to our vibrant and culturally diverse communities!

We have a rich history of welcoming people from all over the world and are proud to be recognised as the UK’s first Borough of Sanctuary, for our work in championing the rights of refugees and migrants.

Introduction

We're seeking a talented Business Intelligence Lead to help shape and improve services for children and young people through high-quality analysis, performance intelligence and data-driven insight. You'll combine technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement skills to influence outcomes, support inspections, improve performance and ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements.

What’s the role? …

This is a highly technical role requiring strong programming, coding and analytical skills, including expertise in SQL, Power BI, data modelling, dashboard development and business intelligence tools. You will lead the development of innovative reporting solutions, predictive analysis and performance frameworks that support both operational and strategic priorities across the directorate.

You will combine advanced technical expertise with strategic thinking to transform complex data into meaningful insight that drives service improvement, supports decision-making and demonstrates impact. You will work closely with senior leaders, managers and partners, translating complex technical information and large volumes of data into clear, accessible and actionable intelligence. Your ability to communicate complex concepts to a wide range of audiences will be essential in helping services understand performance, identify trends and drive improvement.

A key part of the role is ensuring compliance with statutory reporting requirements across Children's Social Care, Education, SEND and Youth Justice. You will need to maintain expert knowledge of legislative changes, regulatory requirements and national data returns, ensuring that reporting arrangements remain accurate, compliant and fit for purpose.

What’s in it for you?

Excellent training and development opportunities, plus a range of benefits including:

  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Local Government Pension scheme
  • Flexible working and family friendly policies
  • Season ticket and bicycle loans
  • A range of staff discounts including local subsidised gym memberships
  • Supportive staff networks

What we’re looking for

  • A natural problem solver who enjoys turning complex data challenges into practical solutions.
  • Technically skilled, with experience of SQL, coding, data modelling, Power BI and business intelligence tools.
  • Curious and innovative, always seeking new ways to use data and technology to improve services.
  • Able to translate complex analysis into clear, compelling insight for senior leaders and non-technical audiences.
  • Passionate about using data to drive performance, improvement and better outcomes for children and young people.
  • Committed to staying abreast of legislative, regulatory and statutory reporting changes, ensuring information remains accurate, compliant and fit for purpose.

Location

The job is primarily based in Laurence House, but we operate a hybrid approach where you may be able to work from home for up to three days per week, subject to the needs of the business.
