Our Private Sector Housing team seeks to improve the conditions and management standards of private sector housing.
You’ll assist the team in achieving this by leading on the changes brought in by the Renters Rights Act to the delivery of housing enforcement standards, ensuring private sector residential accommodation throughout the District meets statutory standards and helping to bring about improvements in conditions and standards of management for residents.
You will deliver service improvements by developing new working processes and building relationships with partners to meet the requirements of the Renters Rights Act.
You’ll be responsible for assessing a variety of properties using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and interpreting the results of these assessments to determine an appropriate course of action to deal with each hazard identified.
You will investigate complaints regarding housing conditions and undertake detailed surveys and inspections of residential accommodation throughout the District.
With your knowledge of Housing legislation, you’ll be comfortable using formal action where necessary, including attendance at Court where required.
This role will be based at our Council Offices, Argyle Road, Sevenoaks, Kent TN13 1HG. We currently operate a hybrid working model for the majority of our roles, with your working time split between the office and home (2-3 days).

Our Housing Options and Solutions team plays a vital frontline role, providing practical support, expert advice and timely interventions to help people remain in their homes or secure alternative accommodation when they need it most.
As a Housing Reviews and Visiting Officer, you’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team working directly with residents across the Sevenoaks District. Your work will help prevent homelessness, support some of our most vulnerable residents, and ensure the Council meets its legal duties under housing legislation.

This is a varied and rewarding role that combines casework, investigation, and extensive face-to-face work with customers in their homes and other settings, including hospitals. Based at the Council Offices in Sevenoaks, you’ll travel widely across the district carrying out visits, gathering information, and providing practical housing advice.
What you will be doing:
<ul>
<li>Assisting with homelessness reviews under Section 202 of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, including carrying out investigations and gathering evidence.</li>
<li>Keeping applicants informed of progress on their homelessness reviews within statutory timescales.</li>
<li>Carrying out accommodation suitability and property condition assessments, considering affordability, overcrowding, location, and any risk of violence.</li>
<li>Visiting customers in a range of settings, including hospitals, to support safe and timely discharge planning.</li>
<li>Providing high-quality housing advice, mediation and realistic housing options to individuals and families at risk of homelessness.</li>
<li>Supporting Housing Advice Officers by verifying applicant details, recording findings from visits, and making clear recommendations.</li>

The Regulatory Services Partnership (RSP) hosted by Merton Council is one of the largest Environmental Health Services in London, with the Food and Safety Team responsible for overseeing more than 6,000 food businesses in Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth. The area covered is diverse in nature and includes a variety of high profile and interesting venues, such as Wimbledon Tennis, AFC Wimbledon, Twickenham Rugby, Battersea Power Station, New Covent Garden and Hampton Court Flower Show.
We have an exciting opportunity for talented and enthusiastic qualified professionals to join our team of dedicated Food and Health and Safety officers to deliver the food safety, health and safety and infectious disease function across the RSP boroughs.
As an authorised officer you will manage and deliver food hygiene and standards inspections of all premises type, including approved food premises. You will investigate complaints and accidents, using your knowledge, skills and experience, and applying the necessary behaviours.
You will mentor and supervise technical staff, sharing your knowledge and experience.
You should have a real passion for improving the environment and public health by engaging with our communities and businesses. You will be highly motivated, with a flexible approach and an eagerness to develop existing competencies as well as attaining new skills.

From 3 separate depots, Green Sefton provides our communities with a clean, green Borough including parks and greenspaces, nature reserves, trees, and woodlands, play and recreational facilities, municipal golf courses and our coast, beaches, and countryside, which include specially protected sites and landscapes, benefitting the health and wellbeing of residents, visitors, investors, and nature.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Working almost exclusively in outdoor environments, the work involves a variety of duties, examples can include; lifting and carrying, dealing with the public, using tools and equipment, cash handling, grass cutting, cleansing and driving, depending on location and business needs.
Applicants should ideally hold a full clean driving licence.&nbsp;
All successful applicants will be assigned to a team/depot to report to at the start/finish of each day. Duties may vary in location and in accordance with business needs, e.g. working on different sites from time to time. Are you a Planning Technical Support Officer experienced in validating planning applications?
Do you have local authority experience and looking for a new challenge?
Are you passionate about the built environment and how our communities are shaped?&nbsp;
We are seeking two highly motivated talented individuals to fill the role of Technical Support Officer within our dynamic Business Support Team. The Business Support Team is the engine room that supports the entire Planning Service. The team validates and registers all planning applications, processes Planning Appeals, plays a key role in the administration and monitoring of the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and is responsible for leading our programme of process review, system updates as well as driving and monitoring our overall service performance.&nbsp;
You could be starting out in your career or have established skills in providing the support within a Planning or other local authority department. Experience of validating and registering planning applications would be an advantage, but don’t worry if you don’t have any experience as we provide a full training package.
