Commissioning Contract and Support Officer

Commissioning Contract and Support Officer

Social Care
£27,052 - £29,345 per year
Job Introduction

COMMISSIONING CONTRACT AND SUPPORT OFFICER

Salary: Scale 5

35 Hours per week

Location: Wildwood, Worcester (WR5)

12 months Fixed Term

THE ROLE

At Worcestershire County Council, the Adult Social Care Commissioners are working with a wide range of partners across social care and health to deliver our strategy – ensuring Worcestershire residents are healthier, live longer, have a better quality of life and remain independent for as long as possible.

We are seeking an experienced, organised and motivated individual to join our supportive and highly skilled Commissioning Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, ready to make an immediate contribution to the commissioning and contract management of services that support adults across Worcestershire.

The successful candidate will act as a first point of contact for providers and stakeholders, helping ensure commissioned services are delivered effectively, contracts are managed efficiently and high-quality outcomes are achieved for Worcestershire residents.

The role has a significant focus on commissioning contract administration, financial processes and performance intelligence. The successful candidate will also support the management of purchase orders, invoices and provider payment queries, maintain contract and financial records, and use data, reporting tools and digital solutions to provide insight that supports commissioning decisions, contract management and service improvement activities

The role offers a varied workload, including, in addition to the above:

  • Coordinating provider onboarding and maintaining contract records.
  • Producing performance reports, dashboards and management information.
  • Supporting commissioning projects, service improvement initiatives and market development activities.
  • Analysing data and presenting information to support evidence-based decision making.
  • Working closely with Commissioning, Quality Assurance, Finance, Commercial and Legal colleagues to ensure commissioned services are effectively managed.
  • Supporting the development of digital tools, reporting solutions and process improvements that enhance efficiency and data quality.

The Council encourages its people to make a positive difference and our vision and values - customer focus, "can do" culture, freedom within boundaries - are at the very centre of everything we do, and the role will provide the opportunity for ongoing professional development and growth.

YOUR BACKGROUND

This role would suit an experienced commissioning, contracts, performance, business support or adult social care professional who can quickly establish themselves within a busy commissioning environment and make an immediate contribution across contract management, financial administration, performance monitoring and service improvement activities.

You will already have experience working within a similar local government or health setting. You will be confident managing competing priorities, working independently and building effective relationships with providers and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of supporting contract monitoring, commissioning or provider management activities.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience of analysing, interpreting and presenting information and performance data.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and the use of databases or management information systems.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of Adult Social Care, commissioning processes, contract management systems, Power BI or financial administration would be advantageous.
