About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Mental Health Team Manager to join our Adults Social Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving and embedding strengths based person centred practice across Adult Social Care. Working closely with the Service Manager and Head of Service. You will manage a team of social workers and social care staff to deliver high-quality assessments, care management, and reviews for adults and their carers. Ensure services are Care Act compliant, promote equal opportunities, safeguard vulnerable adults, and effectively manage staffing, operational, and care purchasing budgets.

About the team

Our Adults Mental Health Social Services team is committed to delivering high quality, strengths-based support that enables residents to live safely, independently and with dignity. You will work collaboratively with social care practitioners, managers, Service manager, commissioners, providers, workforce development colleagues and partner agencies to drive continuous improvement across the service. The team values learning, innovation and professional development, with a strong focus on supporting practitioners through forums, workshops, apprenticeship pathways and the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme.

About you

We are looking for a qualified and experienced social work who demonstrates significant experience working with adults in statutory, voluntary, or local authority settings, with the ability to make complex decisions, manage risk, support and motivate staff, work within legal frameworks, communicate effectively, produce high-quality reports, build strong teams, manage performance, support staff development, and organise work effectively while maintaining a sound understanding of care management practice and relevant legislation.

You will have detailed knowledge of the legislative and policy frameworks that underpin Adult Social Care, along with experience of supporting, developing, and motivating practitioners to deliver high-quality outcomes. You will be confident in designing and delivering training, leading workshops, undertaking quality assurance activities and team identifying opportunities for service improvement. Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to write clear reports, present information to a range of audiences and influence stakeholders. You will also be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities, proficient in the use of IT systems and committed to continuous improvement and professional excellence within Adult Social Care
