Job Introduction

We’re recruiting a Project Support Officer to join our Children’s Services team and play a key role in delivering meaningful change across Milton Keynes.
You’ll be part of a dedicated team supporting the delivery of programmes that make a real difference to children, young people, and families across our city.
The SEND Reform Programme leads the implementation of national SEND reforms across the local area, working with education, health, social care, children, young people, and families to improve inclusion, experiences, and outcomes.
Through strong partnership working and co-production, we drive system-wide improvement while ensuring delivery against local priorities and Department for Education requirements.
In this role, you’ll provide essential project support that helps ensure programmes are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Your work will directly contribute to improving services, strengthening systems, and achieving better outcomes for our communities.

Site-Based role

This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace.

Interviews for this role will be held on 10th and 11th August 2026

We’re building a team that’s focused on making a real difference across our local area. Working with partners, services and communities, you’ll help bring people together, drive collaboration and support improvements that have a lasting impact.

In this role, you’ll play an important part in delivering key priorities, helping shape better experiences and outcomes while ensuring our work stays aligned with both local needs and national expectations. It’s a chance to be part of meaningful, system-wide change where your contribution really matters.

Role Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality project support using established methodologies to help achieve successful outcomes across Children’s Services programmes.
  • Support the development of systems and reporting processes that track performance and inform service improvements.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring budgets, and reporting on project progress against agreed targets.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partners to coordinate programme activity, manage documentation, and maintain effective communication.
  • Ensure effective governance by preparing programme board reports, supporting meetings, and contributing to structured decision-making processes.
  • Contribute to risk management and research activity by maintaining registers, analysing information, and sharing insights that support delivery.
Ideal Candidate
  • You bring a Level 4 Business Administration qualification or equivalent experience, or strong project support experience within a relevant setting.
  • Your ability to apply project management approaches, such as PRINCE2 or similar frameworks, helps you support structured and effective delivery.
  • Experience in working within complex and fast-paced environments allows you to stay organised and focused when demands change.
  • A strong understanding of data analysis, report writing, and presenting information ensures you can communicate clearly with a range of audiences.
  • Confidence when using IT systems, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project tools, enables you to manage information effectively.
  • Proven skills in problem-solving and research mean you can identify solutions and present findings in a clear and accessible way.
  • An approach that demonstrates dedication, respect, and collaboration helps you build positive working relationships and contribute to a supportive team culture.

As part of the pre-employment checks, should you be offered the role, we’ll carry out an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, (unless you are currently registered with the DBS Update Service).
