    What you'll do

As the Data Protection Lead (Deputy DPO), you will play a critical role in protecting Notting Hill Genesis' information assets and ensuring compliance with data protection legislation across the Group. Acting as the Deputy Data Protection Officer, you will be the organisation's key point of contact for data protection advice, guidance, compliance, and regulatory engagement.

Reporting to the Data Protection Officer (DPO), you will lead the day-to-day operation of NHG's data protection function, overseeing compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, and other relevant privacy legislation. You will also act as NHG's subject matter expert for Social Housing Tenants Access to Information Requirements (STAIRS), ensuring the organisation remains compliant while promoting transparency and accountability.

You will lead a specialist team, drive a culture of privacy by design, manage regulatory relationships with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), and provide expert advice on strategic projects and initiatives across the organisation.

As a key member of the Governance and Compliance function, you will help shape NHG's information governance agenda while ensuring residents, colleagues, and stakeholders can trust us to manage their information responsibly and securely.

    How you'll do it

    • Deputise for the Data Protection Officer and act as the day-to-day lead on data protection matters across NHG.
    • Lead and manage the operational delivery of GDPR and Data Protection compliance activities.
    • Oversee the investigation and management of data breaches, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.
    • Manage Subject Access Requests and other data subject rights requests, ensuring statutory deadlines are consistently met.
    • Act as the primary day-to-day contact with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
    • Lead the development, review, and implementation of data protection policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
    • Support the delivery of NHG's Data Protection Strategy and wider information governance initiatives.
    • Maintain and regularly review NHG's Record of Processing Activities (ROPA) and GDPR action plans.
    • Conduct compliance assessments against ICO accountability standards and drive continuous improvement programmes.
    • Provide expert advice on Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs), consent management, information governance, and privacy risks.
    • Lead the implementation and ongoing compliance of STAIRS, providing guidance and support across the organisation.
    • Develop and deliver data protection awareness programmes, communications, and training initiatives.
    • Produce reports and performance metrics for senior leadership, committees, the Executive Board, and Group Board.
    • Lead and develop a high-performing Data Protection team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
