    Maldon District Council is working in partnership with Essex Shared Services to support the role of Revenues and Benefits Assistant, a full-time position offering hybrid working with an expectation of attending the office 2 days per week.     Role Purpose:

    As a Revenues and Benefits Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting vital services that impact thousands of residents-helping to administer Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, and the collection of Council Tax and Business Rates. This is more than just an administrative role; it's an opportunity to develop your skills, contribute to your community, and grow within an organisation that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

    Accountabilities - Service Delivery:

    • Provide day to day administrative support to the Revenues and Benefits team including the handling and filing of physical and digital mail.
    • Access and accurately update all relevant information systems, both customer and back office ensuring that the master customer record is updated and maintained through verification and validation, and in accordance with Data Protection principles.
    • Supporting customer self-serve
    • Support the management of non-complex customer issues effectively and understand when to consult with others.
    • Maintain confidentiality in line with agreed policy and relevant data protection legislation.

    The Experience You Will Bring:

    • Good standard of education with a minimum of 2 GCSEs (English and Maths) or equivalent experience.
    • An awareness of the relevant legislation and regulations is essential. However, a knowledge/understanding of Revenues and Benefits and Document Management systems would be desirable.
    • Experience of the working in a Revenues and Benefits/Local Authority/Customer facing environment or administrative role.
    • Effective communication skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in documentation and data entry.
    • Confident using technology and Microsoft applications (e.g. Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and service specific systems (i.e. GIS, Civica, Academy, Uniform etc.).
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Flexible and adaptable to change, uncertain situations.
