About this job

As an EHC Coordinator, you will manage a caseload of children and young people aged 0–25 and coordinate statutory Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and planning processes. You will: • Lead and coordinate EHC needs assessments from referral through to final EHCP. • Work closely with children, young people, families, schools, colleges and partner agencies. • Gather and analyse professional advice and evidence. • Draft clear, high-quality, person-centred Education, Health and Care Plans. • Ensure statutory timescales and legal requirements are met. • Support children and young people to access the provision they need to achieve positive outcomes. • Champion co-production and ensure the voices of children, young people and families are at the heart of decision-making.

Special requirements for this post

We are interested in hearing from people who: • Have experience of working with children, young people, families or vulnerable groups. • Have a good understanding of SEND legislation, education, social care or health systems. • Can build positive relationships with families and professionals. • Have strong organisational skills and can manage competing priorities. • Are confident writing reports and analysing information. • Are committed to inclusion, participation and improving outcomes for children and young people. Experience within SEND, education, social care, health, youth services or related fields would be an advantage, but we welcome applications from individuals with transferable skills and a passion for making a difference.

About you

You will be a self-motivated individual, with a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs. You will also have the innate ability to prioritise your workload to ensure that statutory deadlines are met in a timely way.

About us

At Barking and Dagenham, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a workplace where everyone belongs and where differences are celebrated. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, faith, gender identity, sexual orientation or socio-economic background.

Additional Information

At Barking and Dagenham, we are ambitious for our children, young people and families. We are looking for motivated, resilient and child-centred professionals to join our hardworking Education, Health and Care (EHC) Team as EHC Coordinators. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a service that is driving improvement, embracing innovation and supporting some of the borough's most vulnerable children and young people. Working within a supportive and experienced team, you will play a key role in ensuring that children and young people receive the right support, at the right time, to achieve and thrive.
