Read more about these here.About The RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Specialist Practice and Advice Team as a Principal Advisor – Speech and Language Therapist. In this role, you’ll be working alongside the Educational Psychologists, Specialist Teachers and other therapists as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing expert support to schools and settings in Hounslow.The role involves close collaboration with the other professionals in the Specialist Practice and Advice team. You will be part of a developing service within a diverse community. You will be supporting schools and early years settings to implement ordinarily available provision, providing universal, targeted and specialist support, disseminating knowledge through high quality training, and providing guidance to schools on interventions and strategies to support inclusion for children and young people with speech, language, communication and interaction needs. Key Responsibilities: • Provide expert guidance and support to schools on ordinarily available provision strategies for pupils with speech, language, communication and interaction needs • Deliver training and professional development sessions to school staff on communication and interaction and inclusive practice • Undertake assessment and contribute to reports, therapy plans and multidisciplinary discussions.• Deliver direct support and intervention to children and young people with speech, language and communication needs• Advise, support and train other colleagues and professionals to deliver speech and language therapy programmes and recommendations• Work with local schools to foster collaborative practices • Liaise with multi-agency professionals, parents and carers to ensure coordinated support for pupils, including joint planning and goal setting• Delivering services in settings schools, PVI settings, and home learning environments• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of research and legislation, to ensure best practice in speech, language, communication and interaction • Participate in the development of resources and materials to support schools in implementing effective strategies and interventions• Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery About The Team You’ll Be Working InThe Lifelong Learning, Skills & Employment division provides a range of statutory and community services, regulated and non-regulated. The division, which sits within the Children’s & Adults Services Department, is organised into four operational service areas, each led by a Head of Services, and each contributing to achievement of the Borough’s ‘limitless’ Lifelong Learning Strategy. As a Principal Advisor within the Access, Inclusion and Participation pillar, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, resident-focused services. You will provide expert guidance and support across Hounslow to set high standards for practice and service delivery, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards. You work in a proactive and collaborative way with other Council services and partners to provide expertise to support the effective delivery of service for residents.You provide regular updates on outcomes to your Senior Practitioner, and as an effective team member, you promote a positive, inclusive culture, championing staff development and continuous improvement.The Access, Inclusion and Participation pillar includes our Statutory SEND (Learning Support and Assessment) function, Specialist Practice & Advice (including the Educational Psychology service), Education Inclusion and Participation function, and the Virtual School. Reporting to the Senior Practitioner (Communication & Interaction) in Specialist Practice and Advice, the post holder will be supported by regular clinical supervision and have access to training and CPD opportunities.
