Microsoft 365 Adoption Officer

Microsoft 365 Adoption Officer

Education
£44,004 - £47,444 per year

Job summary

The Microsoft 365 Digital Adoption Officer is responsible for helping colleagues build the skills, confidence and understanding needed to make effective use of Microsoft 365 tools, with a particular focus on Microsoft Copilot, Teams, PowerPoint and Excel. Working closely with individuals and teams across the department, the post holder will deliver training, develop guidance and learning resources, and help colleagues identify opportunities to improve the way they work using digital technologies.

The role acts as a bridge between users and the Digital Tools team, helping colleagues articulate challenges and desired outcomes, using these insights to shape role-based training, learning materials and adoption activities. The Digital Tools team is responsible for the delivery, support and adoption of Microsoft 365 technologies across the department. We provide technical support, guidance and expertise to help colleagues make effective use of tools such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. All staff have access to Microsoft 365 Copilot, and the team plays a key role in helping colleagues build the skills and confidence needed to use digital tools effectively, securely and responsibly. Through a combination of technical support, guidance, training and engagement activities, we help colleagues make the most of the technology available to them and identify opportunities to improve ways of working.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others get the most from technology and is passionate about turning complex topics into practical learning experiences. You'll be equally comfortable delivering a structured training session, facilitating a team workshop, creating guidance materials or providing bitesize training. You'll be naturally curious, enjoy keeping up with developments across Microsoft 365, and be motivated by helping colleagues build confidence and improve the way they work. Most importantly, you'll be someone who can quickly turn new ideas, user feedback and emerging technologies into effective training, guidance and adoption activities that deliver real value.

Job description

  • Deliver structured instructor-led training, demonstrations and bite-sized learning sessions on Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Facilitate team teach-ins, workshops and discovery sessions to understand user needs, challenges and opportunities, helping colleagues articulate problems and identify how Microsoft 365 technologies can improve ways of working.
  • Design, deliver and continuously improve role-based training, adoption activities and departmental engagement campaigns informed by user feedback, common themes, adoption trends and changing business needs.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality training materials, guidance and self-service learning resources.
  • Help colleagues adopt new tools and ways of working with confidence, promoting effective and sustainable use of Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Use feedback, adoption insights and engagement with users to continuously improve training materials, learning approaches and support resources, ensuring they remain relevant to departmental needs.
  • Stay abreast of developments across Microsoft 365, translating new capabilities into practical guidance and learning opportunities.

Person specification

  • At least one year's experience designing and delivering training, engagement or adoption activities that have supported technology adoption or organisational change.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and digital tools clearly and confidently to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting users through technology adoption, change or improvements to ways of working, using feedback to adapt and improve learning approaches.
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a range of teams.
  • Experience creating training materials, guidance, knowledge content or learning resources.
  • Good practical knowledge of Microsoft 365 technologies and an understanding of how digital tools can support organisational productivity, collaboration and change.
  • Demonstrable curiosity and willingness to continuously learn in a rapidly evolving digital environment
