About Us

AP WEX Facilitator

£38,976 - £47,229

Fixed term until 31st August 2027

Full Time

Hybrid – with travel across five boroughs

Objective of role

As the Alternative Provision Work Experience (AP WEX) Facilitator, you will play a key role in creating meaningful work experience opportunities for young people who face additional barriers to education, employment and training.

Working across alternative provision settings, employers and system partners, you will build strong relationships, understand the needs of young people and broker high-quality opportunities that are inclusive, flexible and aligned to progression.

This is an exciting new opportunity for someone who enjoys working across systems, influencing stakeholders and creating solutions that improve outcomes for young people. You will work directly with employers to help them design accessible opportunities and build confidence in engaging with alternative provision learners, ensuring every young person can develop skills, confidence and aspirations for the future.

About the Role

As AP WEX Facilitator, you will:

  • Manage a caseload of alternative provision settings across South London, developing a detailed understanding of learner needs and local priorities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, securing inclusive work experience opportunities that support young people with a wide range of needs and barriers.
  • Act as a broker between employers and education providers, matching opportunities to individual learners and ensuring experiences are meaningful and achievable.
  • Support employers to design, adapt and deliver inclusive workplace experiences that enable all young people to succeed.
  • Undertake needs analysis, translating learner demand into a clear pipeline of opportunities and ensuring provision is responsive and targeted.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, providers and Careers Hub colleagues to maximise participation and progression outcomes.
  • Use data, feedback and insight to identify gaps, target intervention and improve access to opportunities.

Help create a more equitable careers and work experience system for young people across South London.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Can you demonstrate:

1. Employer Engagement and Relationship Management

Proven experience of engaging, influencing and building productive relationships with employers and a wide range of stakeholders, securing work experience commitment and delivering positive outcomes.

2. Opportunity Brokerage and Business Development

Experience of identifying, developing and converting WEX opportunities, managing pipelines and negotiating solutions that meet both employer and learner needs.

3. Inclusion and Equity Focus

Experience of supporting young people who face barriers to progression, alongside the ability to work with employers to create inclusive, accessible and high-quality WEX opportunities.

4. Needs Analysis and Problem Solving

Ability to assess stakeholder need, identify gaps and translate insight into practical solutions, ensuring opportunities are tailored, appropriate and impactful.

5. Influencing and Stakeholder Engagement

Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to challenge perceptions, build confidence and encourage employers and partners to adopt new approaches.

6. Data-Driven Delivery and Caseload Management

Experience of managing programmes, projects or caseloads, using data and insight to prioritise activity, monitor performance and improve outcomes.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people who often face the greatest barriers to progression.

You will work directly with alternative provision settings, employers and partners to create opportunities that build confidence, raise aspirations and support positive destinations. We're looking for someone who is proactive, relationship-focused and passionate about inclusion, who can see potential where others see barriers and help employers create opportunities that might not otherwise exist.

If you're motivated by building partnerships, influencing change and ensuring every young person has access to meaningful experiences of work, we'd love to hear from you
