Who we are
The Transport Team at St Helens Borough Council run a diverse fleet of vehicles, from vans to 32t GVW HGVs. Our Team of 9 engineers inspect, service, maintain and repair a fleet of 200 vehicles including diesel and electric, as well as inspecting, servicing and repairing a large amount of Amenity horticultural and Grounds Maintenance plant and machinery.

We are also an authorised examiner for motor vehicle testing for class 4 & 7 vehicles.

Join our team

We are seeking an ambitious individual with a desire to gain HGV Level 3 Engineering status, while learning all aspects of vehicle & plant maintenance, servicing and repair as well as attending college on one day per week during term time.

The successful applicant must be able to get to and from his / her place of work at Hardshaw Brook Depot St Helens and will work shifts between 6 am and 8pm on weekdays. They will work as part of a team on wide ranging items of plant, machinery and vehicles.

The post will be a 36-month fixed term position with the possibility of a 3-month extension to compete the ‘End Point Assessment’ if necessary.
