Job Introduction

Assistant Team Manager - Adult Disability Team

We are hiring an Assistant Team Manager to work in our Adult Disability Team.

Based at Moat Lane, central Solihull, our Adult Disability team support adults with a learning disability, physical disability and/or autism. The team also comprises a Preparing for Adulthood Team which works across both Children’s and Adult services to provide a specialist social work service to ensure a smooth transition for young people into adult care and support services within Solihull when they have an Education and Healthcare Plan (EHCP) in place.

You will be part of a highly experienced and dedicated team, embeding a strengths-based model of assessment and support, promoting independence and well-being and achieving better outcomes for people, carers and their families.

Together with the Team Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of the team.

You will ensure our services are delivered in a person centred and strengths based way, to achieve better outcomes for our people, carers and their families.

Supervising and quality assuring the work of staff reporting to you, you will ensure it is carried out in line with good professional practice, legal and directorate requirements and performance standards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A professional social work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Substantial post-qualified experience in Adult Social Work services.
  • Experience of providing professional supervision to others
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering person-centred working and strength-based practice.

Our Offer to You

In return, you will be part of a wider team where you will be valued, with the opportunity to shape and improve the services we deliver to our diverse community. We have close partnerships across agencies in the borough. We are a small and friendly local authority with good relationships across adult care and support.

We also understand that our employees have commitments and interests outside work and encourage good work-life balance by offering a flexible and agile working environment; this is further supplemented by an extensive wellbeing offer, as well as a range of other benefits including staff discounts and a career average pension scheme.

Working to a hybrid model, this role will involve a combination of office and home working.
