Do you see yourself delivering projects that improve communities and make travel safer for everyone?

Can you use your experience to lead complex highways projects from concept through to delivery?

Does the idea of joining a collaborative and ambitious team that shapes the future of local infrastructure excite you?

If yes, we have the perfect role for you!

Our Highways and Transportation Service is looking for a passionate and dedicated Engineering Project Manager to join our amazing team and help make a difference today.

About the Role:

As an Engineering Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of a diverse programme of highways capital projects, managing schemes from inception to completion. You will oversee feasibility studies, community engagement, preliminary design development, approvals, project governance, and financial management to ensure successful project outcomes.

Working across a portfolio of projects valued up to £5 million, you will collaborate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, stakeholders, and elected members to deliver high-quality infrastructure improvements that support the council's strategic objectives and benefit local communities.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced and motivated professional who can successfully manage multiple projects while building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be a confident communicator, a proactive problem solver, and committed to delivering excellent outcomes.

You will have:

  • Experience in project management, ideally within highways, transport, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong financial and budget management skills, including monitoring expenditure and managing funding requirements.
  • Experience leading project development, feasibility work, design coordination, and procurement activities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and consultation skills, with the ability to work effectively with communities, partners, and elected members.
  • Experience preparing reports, committee papers, business cases, and presentations for senior leaders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a large and varied workload.
  • Knowledge of project governance, risk management, and quality assurance processes.
  • The ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate staff, consultants, and commissioned resources
  • A commitment to collaborative working and continuous improvement

About the Team:

Our team is responsible for delivering a wide range of highways and infrastructure improvements that enhance connectivity, safety, accessibility, and sustainability across the borough. We are a supportive, forward-thinking team that values innovation, collaboration, and professional excellence.

You'll have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects, develop your expertise, and make a meaningful impact on local communities. We are committed to supporting professional development and providing opportunities for growth within a dynamic and rewarding environment.
