Location: Hybrid Working – Richmond and Wandsworth Directorate: Change and Innovation

Do you want to be at the heart of ambitious change across two of London’s most dynamic boroughs?

If you are ready to bring strategic HR expertise, energy and ambition to a role where your work will directly support better services for residents, we would love to hear from you.

Richmond & Wandsworth Better Service Partnership is looking for an outstanding HR Business Partner to help shape the future of our workforce, influence senior decision-making and support services that make a real difference to residents every day. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys working at pace, building trusted relationships and turning people insight into practical action.

About Us

Richmond & Wandsworth Better Service Partnership is one of local government’s most ambitious and innovative shared-service partnerships. We deliver vital services across two distinctive London boroughs, including social care, public health, children’s services, housing, regeneration and environmental services. Our work is complex, fast-moving and purposeful and our people are central to delivering excellent services for thriving communities.

About the Role

As an HR Business Partner, you will be a trusted adviser and strategic partner to senior leaders, helping them think bigger about their workforce, plan with confidence and lead change well. You will bring energy, professional judgement and practical solutions to a varied portfolio, supporting workforce planning, organisational design, employee relations, leadership, culture and performance.

In this role, you will:

Work directly with Directors and senior managers to shape ambitious workforce and people plans.

Lead strategic workforce planning, organisational design and transformation activity that has visible impact.

Turn workforce data and organisational insight into clear, practical recommendations for action.

Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters and organisational change programmes.

Build strong, constructive relationships with trade unions, stakeholders and corporate colleagues.

Champion equality, diversity and inclusion and help create inclusive, high-performing workplaces.

Contribute to the ongoing development of our HR service and wider organisational priorities.

About You

We are looking for a confident, curious and politically aware HR professional who can operate at senior levels, ask the right questions and influence decisions that shape services and outcomes.

You will bring:

Significant experience within a large, complex organisation providing senior HR advice and support.

A strong track record of leading or supporting organisational change and transformation programmes.

Extensive experience of managing complex employee relations issues and employment law challenges.

The ability to analyse workforce data and translate insight into practical recommendations.

Excellent relationship-building, influencing and communication skills.

Experience of working constructively with trade unions and employee representatives.

A passion for delivering excellent public services and developing inclusive working environments.

What We Offer

In return, you will join a team with ambition, purpose and genuine influence. We offer:

The opportunity to influence strategic decisions across two ambitious London boroughs.

A collaborative and supportive HR leadership team.

Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

A commitment to professional development and career progression.

The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to residents, communities and employees.

Essential Qualifications

Chartered Member of CIPD (or willingness to study towards membership).

Evidence of continuous professional development and maintaining current HR knowledge and expertise.
