About the team
The Integrated Passenger Transport Unit (IPTU) delivers essential transport services across Hertfordshire, including home to school transport and Adult Care Services. The team ensures passengers receive high-quality, efficient journeys. This role sits within a dynamic and responsive team that works closely with Children’s Services and Adult Care Services, transport providers, and other stakeholders. The Contracts Transport Planner will play a key role in shaping future service delivery and improving transport provision across the county.
About the role
As a Contracts Transport Planner, you will:
- Manage transport contracts for special educational needs, mainstream home to school, short stay provision, children looked after, and day services.
- Procure, manage, and review transport provision to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective travel.
- Maintain and update database systems accurately, managing contract information.
- Liaise with clients, transport providers, user groups, and stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
- Deliver services in a sensitive and sympathetic manner, demonstrating resilience and professionalism.
About you
Essential:

- Has demonstrable experience in contract management and customer service.
- Possesses excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Communicates effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both written and orally.
- Can work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Is proactive and reactive in a fast-paced environment.
- Holds relevant qualifications or experience in transport planning or contract management
Desirable
- A driving licence and access to a vehicle - you will have to travel across Hertfordshire to visit Schools and Operators.

Driving required
