The Construction Team is one of several that report to the Head of Works within the Assets &amp; Environment Service which, in turn, sits within the Place, Economy &amp; Environment Directorate.The work of delivering construction projects on corporate properties requires the Team to works with a range of clients from within the Council such as Education, Adult Services, Northampton Children’s Trust and external partners and tenants. Job Title:&nbsp;Substance Misuse Worker

About the role
We’re looking for a Substance Misuse Worker with experience in mental health and substance use to join our Catford team. Based in a 24 hour residential service, you’ll support adults with severe and enduring mental health needs through rehabilitation and recovery focused support, using your specialist knowledge to help residents and the team overcome personal challenges.
You will deliver evidence-based interventions based on holistic assessments to support personalised recovery, integration, and promotion of independent living skills. You will be a specialist in comorbidity, supporting the team to achieve positive outcomes for our residents. Some of your duties will include:

<li>Undertake joint holistic assessments, risk assessments, care plans, and interventions to support harm reduction and minimisation.</li>
<li>Set up realistic and flexible strengths-based support plans, working closely with colleagues and support teams to support and advise on interventions and approaches to meet individual needs.</li>
<li>Help reduce episodes of crisis and assist residents/participants to access services which can offer alternatives to crisis support.</li>
<li>Work closely with support staff and clinical teams to support and advise them on interventions and approaches to meet resident/participant comorbid, complex mental health and substance misuse needs.</li>
<li>Support multi-disciplinary teams and the wider community teams with support, advice, signposting, and move on care planning.&nbsp;</li>

About you
We are looking for someone who has specialist knowledge on how to support individuals with comorbid and complex needs, with experience in interventions, and in a similar role. Qualifications are desirable if paired with practical experience which is relevant to this role. We look at individual characteristics with the ability to engage with various people who may not want to receive the support, able to build trusting professional relationships, and able to demonstrate resilience, solve challenges, and be proactive. As our Biodiversity Ranger, you’ll play a key role in delivering practical habitat management, ecological surveying and biodiversity projects across the borough. Your work will help protect and enhance wildlife, support Biodiversity Net Gain delivery, and ensure our countryside sites are managed in a sustainable and evidence-led way.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, specialist role focused on supporting biodiversity conservation and habitat management across the council’s countryside estate. Working under the direction of the Countryside Officer (Operations), you will help deliver surveying, reporting and land management that underpin effective site management and Biodiversity Net Gain outcomes.
You will carry out wildlife and habitat surveys, maintain monitoring systems and produce reports that inform management plans and funding bids. Alongside this, you’ll deliver practical habitat management, including meadow management, grazing arrangements and wider estate tasks, working closely with colleagues, contractors and external partners.
The role combines fieldwork, data handling and coordination, with opportunities to shape how biodiversity projects are delivered across a diverse portfolio of sites. You’ll also support and supervise Estate Rangers and seasonal staff, contributing to a collaborative and skilled ranger service.
