Sheltered Housing Caretakers Part Time (25hrs)

We’re not just restructuring – we’re reinventing how housing services are delivered. Come and be part of the change.

About the role

Do you take pride in keeping places clean, safe and welcoming – and want a job where you can see the difference you make every single day?

This is your chance to join North Northamptonshire Council’s Housing Management Service as a Sheltered Housing Caretaker at a time of real change and investment. We’re reshaping our service to be more visible, proactive and closer to tenants than ever before – and Caretakers are at the very heart of this transformation.

As a Caretaker, you’ll ensure the sheltered housing schemes communal areas and grounds are well maintained, safe and welcoming for all residents. You’ll work closely with Sheltered Services Officers, Scheme Cleaners, residents and local communities to create places people are proud to live in.

You will be part of a service that is:

  • Visible and connected – focused on visible improvements and has strong links with tenants and communities.
  • Cleaner and safer – more caretakers making a real impact in our sheltered schemes and on estates.
  • Supportive and responsive – tackling issues quickly and preventing problems from escalating.
  • Engaged and accountable – giving tenants a stronger voice in how their schemes are managed.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be a visible presence in communities, helping create safer, stronger and better-maintained neighbourhoods.

What will you be doing?

What you will be doing

  • Keeping shared spaces such as stairwells, bin stores and walkways clean, safe and presentable.
  • Spotting issues early and reporting repairs, hazards and health & safety concerns quickly.
  • Acting as a visible and approachable presence to help deter anti-social behaviour.
  • Working alongside Sheltered Service Officers to tackle issues such as, fire risks, fly-tipping or vandalism.

Taking pride in your work and making sure tenants can see and feel the difference you make

About you

About you
