Are you an experienced commissioning professional who wants to make a meaningful difference to adults with care and support needs across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole? BCP Council’s Adult Social Care Commissioning service is looking for a highly motivated Strategic Commissioning Manager to join our Long Term Conditions team.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and strengthen services that support people to live well, remain independent, and access the right care at the right time. The role will focus on commissioning requirements for intermediate care services, alongside the operational management and development of the Adult Social Care brokerage function.

About the role

  • Lead the delivery of brokerage services that support improved health, wellbeing and outcomes for vulnerable adults and their carers.
  • Work collaboratively with key partners, including the NHS, to identify local service development opportunities and support effective joint working.
  • Lead, motivate and manage the Adult Social Care brokerage function, ensuring a high-quality, flexible and responsive service for internal and external customers.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of ASC contracts, brokerage service improvement and wider business planning across the service unit and ASC directorate.
  • Establish and maintain effective project management arrangements for the work programme, taking responsibility for delivery across the service area.
  • Promote high standards of service delivery, ensuring compliance with relevant Care Act requirements and the Council’s procurement, contract and finance standards.
  • Ensure robust budget monitoring arrangements are in place, with timely action taken to address variances and secure best value services.

About you

  • You will bring degree-level education or significant experience in adult social care commissioning, with expertise in intermediate care and operational brokerage services.
  • You will have experience of involving service users and stakeholders in commissioning and service delivery, helping to achieve strategic outcomes that make a real difference.
  • You will be confident leading change across a range of contexts, delivering service improvement initiatives and demonstrating positive outcomes for people who use services.
  • You will have sound knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory duties, responsibilities and best practice relating to the commissioning and contracting of adult services.

In return, you will join a supportive management and learning environment where your contribution will be valued. You will have opportunities to attend wider meetings, webinars and training to continue developing your knowledge and skills within commissioning and adult social care.

Adult Social Care is driving forward the personalisation agenda, with a growing focus on place-based commissioning. If you are passionate about strength-based approaches, partnership working and championing people’s rights to be fully involved and supported within their own communities, we would love to hear from you.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact yvette.pearson@bcpcouncil.gov.uk, Head of Strategic Commissioning for Long Term Conditions.

Please note, this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship and we can only consider applicants with existing right to work in the UK.
