    The role:

    • The Senior Casework Officer will continue Liverpool’s commitment of ensuring that children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) have a positive educational experience, we are looking for a Senior SEND Casework Officer to Lead and supervise a team of SEND Casework Officers, providing professional guidance, support, performance management and ensuring high-quality casework practice.
    • The Senior Casework Officer will quality assure EHCPs and casework activity, maintaining high standards of service delivery and ensuring person-centred planning is embedded throughout all SEND processes.
    • To provide specialist oversight and support for complex cases, including complaints, mediation, dispute resolution and SEND Tribunal appeals, seeking legal advice where required
    • The Senior Casework Officer will monitor and track vulnerable children and young people with SEND, ensuring effective systems are in place to support positive educational outcomes and appropriate placements and work closely with the SEND Team Manager, in the planning and allocation of school places for children and young people with an EHCP
    • To support service development and continuous improvement, leading on agreed projects, policy development, SEND reforms and the implementation of consistent practice across the service
    • The successful candidate will be able to work under their own initiative on a specified caseload and as a part of a wider team to statutory timescales and deadlines and be expected to use all aspects of IT including Microsoft Office Suite
    • The Senior Casework Officer will have excellent mediation and negotiation skills with a proven ability to work effectively under pressure in addition to extensive experience of casework, including supporting families and legal challenge
    • Working experience and in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the Children and Families Act 2014 and all associated legislation including SENDIST regulations is required

    We have 2 full time permanent positions and 1 fixed term position for 12 months to cover maternity leave
