Job summary

​This post can be based at our sites in either Ryton-on-Dunsmore (CV8 3EN), Durham (DL15 8DS), Harrogate (HG1 1EP) or London (E14 4PU). Hybrid working opportunities can also be discussed prior to you taking up your post. This role is also available as a designated homeworking role with some travel required. ​

Job description

This role is available until 31/03/2027 as a fixed term appointment for external candidates or as a secondment for colleagues employed directly by the College, Civil Service or police forces.

National Centre for Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) & Public Protection (PP)

​​Are you an experienced data analyst who is passionate about using data as a driver for positive change? If so, the NCVPP looks forward to reading your application for the role of Senior Data Analyst. The successful candidate will support policing by providing high-quality data and analytical insight to inform strategy, decision-making, and professional practice across Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and Public Protection, including child protection. As part of the National Centre for VAWG and Public Protection (NCVPP) analytical team, the role focuses on working across the policing and partnership landscape to obtain and integrate data which will be used to strengthen the insights and evidence base which is used by the NCVPP and wider to improve the policing response to VAWG and Public Protection harms, including opportunities for prevention. The postholder will play an important role in applying their technical skills to maximise the insights available from the data NCVPP collect, this includes developing data models and visualisations, and translating complex findings into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders, contributing to continuous improvement and national best practice.​

Person specification

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver high-quality data analysis and insight, using advanced analytical and visualisation tools (including Power BI) to support strategic decision-making across policing and partner organisations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, obtain and integrate datasets, and maximise the value of data.
  • Provide expert analytical advice and guidance to peers and stakeholders, strengthening data capability across the NCVPP.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • To be an expert in BI tools such as Power BI and confident working with large and complex datasets to maximise insights
  • Experience in developing analysis to support strategic decision making
  • Proven experience of driving data improvements by working with peers, internal and external stakeholders
  • An understanding of the policing landscape

Candidates who are progressed to interview will be asked to prepare and complete a short 5 –10 min presentation prior to your interview as part of the selection process. They will be given the topic of the presentation one hour before your interview.
