Active Lives supports adults with disabilities to live the life they choose by working in a person centred way offering support that is aligned to the values of Community Led Support.
Our way of working is to support people to be as independent as they can be in all areas of their life, to be actively involved and included in their local communities and to reduce or avoid people becoming building dependent.
Learning opportunities range from Pathways to Employment to supporting people using a small/next steps approach to develop life skills and communicate their wants and needs so that they can make choices about their lives.
In this role you will:
- Meet and support adults with learning disabilities, and autism, and other complex needs.
- Deliver sessions that build skills and support emotional and physical wellbeing - taking place in one of our Hubs and the local community.
The successful candidate will have:
- High professional standards and be a good team player.
- Knowledge and experience of Positive Behaviour Support.
- Skills that support the development of communication and choice making ability of the people we support.
- Creative thinking skills to design and deliver sessions that meet individual person-centred outcomes.
- Ability to demonstrate how their values align with supporting people in the local community to practice independence, exercise their human rights and make choices and progress towards goals in their own lives, maintain wellbeing, and keep safe from risk of harm and abuse.
- Clear demonstration of how they meet the Person Specification for the role.
Initially, this role will be based at Whitehorse Hub, New Addington Hub, and / or The Cherry Hub however, like all roles in Active Lives the location and team may change according to service demand and evolution.
Skilled work visa sponsorship for this role is not guaranteed and only offered pending clear fulfilment of relevant labour market criteria.
The Selection Process
We are following a Value-based approach to the recruitment of the Community Support Worker posts within the Active Lives service. This will allow us to identify strengths in applicants through observing values and behaviours. Applying candidates will need to clearly demonstrate how they meet the Person Specification for the role.
The selection process will be conducted over a half day session, based at Cherry Hub. Candidates will be taken through several tasks, involving interview questions, and some task-based activities, which will include interaction with the residents. Candidates successful at this stage will be invited for a final follow-up interview.
