An exciting opportunity has arisen for an existing senior leader, or a highly successful, aspiring leader to take up the role of Deputy Headteacher at St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School & Nursery, part of the Holy Family Catholic Multi Academy Trust.

We are seeking a confident, caring and creative individual who will maximise opportunities for our staff team and children. We are looking for a leader who has a track record of improving standards and outcomes and can support the Headteacher in leading the Catholic life of the school in our next phase of growth. The school continues to expand pupil numbers and is a popular choice for local families.

St Augustine’s is a warm, welcoming and faith-filled community at the heart of Castlefields, Runcorn. As a proud member of the Holy Family Catholic Multi Academy Trust (HFCMAT), we are part of a supportive and forward-thinking family of schools dedicated to developing excellence, embracing opportunity, and building strong communities rooted in Gospel values.

We believe in the transformative power of Catholic education to change lives, open doors and raise aspirations. At St Augustine’s, children are known, nurtured, and encouraged to achieve the highest standards, developing as responsible citizens and unique individuals loved by God.

The successful candidate will be supported by the Headteacher and Trust’s Director of Primary Education and central team, who have excellent knowledge and experience of working with the school and governors.

A requirement of the post is that applicants must be practicing Catholics who are able to obtain a faith reference.

We can offer you:

  • A supportive, friendly working environment both at school and Trust level
  • A team committed to supporting professional development
  • Enthusiastic children who love coming to school
  • A motivated staff team who work together as a family to help every child
  • A school with high aspirations for its pupils and staff

We would like you to:

  • Have a strong personal commitment to Catholic beliefs and practices with active participation in parish life.
  • Have the ability to articulate and implement a vision rooted in Catholic values while driving academic excellence.
  • Be skilled in setting goals, implementing change, and ensuring sustainability.
  • Be the best possible role model for all members of the school community
  • Have a track record of improving standards in a position of leadership

In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, Holy Family Catholic Multi Academy Trust will undertake general online searches for all shortlisted candidates. This may include social media and video platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Online searches will only examine data that is publicly available, and the aim is to identify any incidents or issues. Any areas of concern will be discussed during the interview process.

Visits to our school are welcome and can be arranged by contacting Elizabeth Lambe, Headteacher (head@staugustines-runcorn.com) or contacting schooloffice@staugustines-runcorn.com.

To apply for this position, please complete the attached CES application form for the attention of Elizabeth Lambe, Headteacher, to recruitment@hfcmat. For further information please visit the ‘Vacancies’ section on our website www.hfcmat.com.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and individually take responsibility for doing so.
